An
Enterprise Geographic Information System (GIS) was being designed as part of
Business Transformation that would have resulted in an integrated system
allowing PG&E users to access and analyze Electric and Gas Transmission and
Distribution system asset information.
This Business Transformation (BT) effort was started in February 2005,
and continued through Plan, Analyze, and Design phases, and was in the midst of
the Build, Test, and Deploy phase when the project was suspended in October,
2007. During the time BT was moving
forward with the GIS project, the applications that were to be replaced by the
new GIS were not updated to current application versions and were minimally
maintained. Also, the required hardware
replacements were not done since these systems were to be replaced by the
GIS. These applications have now
reverted back to being the current production applications as they were prior
to the BT project.

Public Utilities Commission (CPUC). PG&E is transitioning to a dynamic
pricing model for energy use. Currently electric rate schedules are
predominantly static, whereas the new rates will be based on changing
conditions such as peak energy events and time of use. Electricity customers
will have choices to make about their rate options and about their own behavior
in terms of energy efficiency and management.
The Internet is one of the primary channels PG&E will use to
communicate with customers affected by dynamic pricing. In this process
PG&E is re-architecting the current MyAccount web portal, and I have worked
on the MARA (My Account Re-Architecture) Project, Release 2 as QA
Analyst/Tester.
