Completed personal assistant assignments for  the Office Manager that ranged from marketing the business’ services to the community and organizing the client files ensuring the timely handling of their tax needs, to taking inventory of all necessary business forms and supplies.  As Tax Preparation Assistant I in-put clients’ personal and tax information so that the Tax Preparer could complete their tax return.  As Customer Service Professional I checked customers into their daily appointments, worked walk-ins into the daily schedule, made appointments over the phone, routed messages, and made sure that the case load was well managed during my shift.

Greeted customers at the checkout counter and unloaded their shopping carts.  Processed their purchases through the point of sale computer and bagged their items.  Was responsible for maintaining the money drawer of the cash register and performed money drops as management needed.  Kept the checkout area clean and tidy to maintain a professional appearance.

Hospital Service Coordinator
Disabled American Veterans, Beckley, WV, 5/2003–12/2008
Directed the volunteer van program to provide transportation to veterans for clinic appointments at the Beckley VAMC across an eleven county service area.  Actively sought out and maintained a qualified pool of volunteer drivers.  Ensured the proper training of volunteers and the regular maintenance of vehicles in the program.  Communicated program  rules, limitations, and needs to the hospital director, staff, veterans and their family members.  Worked in unison with the Voluntary Services Department at the hospital to accomplish these goals.  Also devised incentive programs to reward drivers for the early completion of training each year and to show continual appreciation for their efforts.  Conducted quarterly inventories of emergency supplies for each vehicle.   As the DAV Service Officer I also assisted veterans with their claims issues.

Trained as a Russian Linguist and was promoted from an E-1 to an E-4 Specialist.  Was Assistant Squad Leader at the 165th M.I. BN in Darmstadt, Germany.  Performed a wide array of tasks to include combat skills and first aid training, taking direction and relaying commands to subordinates, directing the activities of squad members, and continuous language maintenance courses.  Participated in regular vehicle maintenance and supply inventories.
