Performed most
of the Year 2000 conversion of property tax appraisal systems, consisting of
600 batch COBOL and 400 CICS programs. The project encompassed the conversion
of a majority of the system files, as well as comprehensive parallel unit and
system testing.
o Member of a team responsible for the
migration of computer tax systems from IBM 4331 to IBM 390. This required
converting the COBOL batch and CICS program COBOL software code compatible with
upgraded OS/MVS operating systems, and complete parallel testing. Project completed on schedule transparently to the
more than 100 users of the batch and online systems.
o Performed extensive analysis, design, and
development of modifications, improvements, and performance enhancements to
batch and on-line tax appraisal systems.
o Responsible for immediate and timely
response and resolution to any production problem or abend of batch nightly
update run, as well as maintaining smooth and trouble-free performance of
daytime online and batch production systems for users. The many different
sub-systems included job streams for real property, personal property, property
ID, certification, suspended parcels and accounts, and formal and informal
protest hearings.
o Researched Discounted Cash Flow Analysis
sub-system and created a solution to streamline an original system design
problem involving changing keys on existing accounts. Found and corrected the cause of substantial
monetary fluctuations discovered by appraisers, which were caused by rounding
errors in mathematical calculation modules involving large sums of money.
