Business Analyst/Senior Developer 1999
– 2011
C.R. Bard Inc, New Providence, New Jersey
- Project Lead
in the development of a cross-divisional order processing system. This system is utilized by ten
divisions across four countries to increase efficiencies. This system dramatically decreased
shipping and pricing errors on intercompany sales.
- Project
Lead for the Bard Canada divisional rollout onto JDE Enterprise One. Provided analysis, gathered
requirements, prepared both functional and technical specifications as
well as developed test plans and maintained project plans. This rollout
was successful and resulted in the decommission of a mainframe.
- Managed the
implementation of Quantum Sales & Use Tax software. Gathered tax requirements from the
corporate tax department and configured JDE & Vertex to be compliant
with sales tax laws. This system
is currently used in filing tax returns as well as tax audits. The system has decreased the cost of
the company’s sales tax audits.
- Collected
and analyzed business requirements for various third-party software
upgrades and enhancements. Served
as Team Lead by coordinated efforts between intercompany resources and
external vendors to design solutions and troubleshoot existing issues. Responsibilities from coordinating and
leading meetings to presenting the solution to upper management for
approvals.
- Implemented
Oracle User Productivity Kit for use as a documentation and training tool. Conducted training classes and
developed standards in collaboration with QA and testing teams. This software has decreased testing
time and has resulted in an extensive amount of training documents which
is used to train new JDE users.
- Identified
a gap in how sales tax credits were being issued for customer sales
resulting in a new process for handling tax credits. This new process has produced a great
reduction in sales tax write downs and increased customer satisfaction.
- Proposed
and led the effort to eliminate a third party shipping software package
that was unknowingly not being utilized. The elimination of this
software has reduced licensing and support costs.
- Identified
a need for automated tax reporting. Developed automated rate and geocode
updates for Vertex Sales and Use Tax using AIX UNIX scripts. These scripts are scheduled on a
monthly basis and have streamlined month end processing.
- Designed,
coded and implemented EDI interfaces to extract data from MFG/PRO and
generate application files to be processed by EDI translator (Gentran)
for (850) customer purchase orders, (855) produce purchase order
acknowledgments, and (810) customer invoices. This suite of applications processes
80% of Bard’s domestic sales.
- Gathered
requirements from the user community and performed analysis in an effort
to create and maintain a clean and standard customer master table. This
effort has resulted in a consolidated customer master.
- Responsible
for production support for all aspects of Enterprise One for
order-to-cash day-to-day processes which are responsible for over $3 million
in sales daily.
Senior Programmer/Analyst 1994 – 1999
Integrated
Systems & Services, Little Falls, New Jersey
- Worked
on-site at a major on-line brokerage as a key member of a design and
coding team for an automated mutual fund processing system. In addition to analysis and
improvement of their trade clearing system where I have interacted with
company officers in the development of tools to be used by their
personnel to insure data integrity.
- Chief
programmer in the redesign of Titan’s (A Progress based manufacturing,
distribution and accounting system) PO module, this modification
includes changes in IN, AP and AR.
A major flower importer is currently using this customized
version of Titan. Great detail
was paid to issues such as unit of measure, currency, taxes and freight
charges.
- Designed,
coded and implemented a Customer Return Authorization system for a major
Manhattan based electronics retailer; this system supports 60 users and
tracks the returns of products from the store clerk to the warehouse.
- Instructed
Progress programming and Report Builder classes for clients.
- Spent
extensive amounts of time on various client sites. Worked extensively with client’s
personnel from MIS directors to end-users in order to provide workable
solutions to various business problems.
