A
“hands-on” manager, I assembled a team of 10 people with both development
and operations responsibility. I served as Lead Architect and developer
on numerous projects designed to enhance the functionality of the firms
existing trading and settlement systems. Technologies included Oracle
PL/SQL, TUXEDO, ORBIX Corba, C/C++, Perl, and shell. Significant
achievements during this time:
|
- Created an integrated electronic
trading platform for the US, French, Italian, German, and Swiss
markets. The system included a time-slicing function, which allowed
the trading desks to efficiently execute large basket trades with
minimal effort.
|
- Performed database
administration until transitioning to a full time DBA who I
supervised.
|
- Using MINT middleware,
added SWIFT messaging capabilities to the existing back office
system. This allowed the firm to go self clearing in several key
markets and gain significant cost savings.
|
- Supervised the
installation of an Internet based VPN which enabled the firm’s
senior managers to gain access to the system from remote locations.
|
- Upgrade the
infrastructure from Intel/SCO to SUN Solaris.
