Institutional Research Office at Wayne State University (WSU) and Post Doctoral Fellow in the Department
of Biological Sciences at WSU.
Co-developed
with Professor Dr. Carl Freeman, assistant to the associate provost for
retention and education issues at WSU, a web based student monitoring
technology called MAPS for the evaluation of the academic programs offered by
Wayne State University. MAPS uses the ability to track students along various
academic pathways to assess the effectiveness of the curriculum, identify the
factors that affect graduation and retention, and improve the admission and
credit transfer protocols. MAPS is currently available to WSU faculty and
administrators and was successfully used to change the admission and transfer
credit policies, the prerequisite classes structure etc. MAPS runs on a IBM
Cognos/ Sungard BANNER infrastructure, although a standalone version of MAPS is
in planning.
January 2004 – December 2009: Graduate Research
Assistant at Intelligent Systems and Bioinformatics
Laboratory, Wayne State University.
Developed
a method for the discovery of novel functional annotations for genes. The
method applies latent semantic indexing and vector space model weighting
schemes to the currently known gene-functions relationships. Also worked on
fast sequence alignment algorithms.
Fall 2005, Winter 2006: Graduate Teaching
Assistant for the Introduction to Data Structures and
Algorithms, and Discrete Mathematics undergraduate courses at Wayne State
University, Department of Computer Science.
