Currently Sr.
Manager, Animal Care and Welfare Training at Charles River, I hold a BA in
Liberal Arts with a concentration in psychobiology and animal behavior. I
provide resources to sites around the global with the goal of improving
efficiencies and helping to assure consistency across sites. My work involves
facilitating the sharing of training via company intranet, development of
specific training materials at the request of sites and working to enhance the
professional development of Trainers.
I have been designing
and developing training for over 10 years both while in academia and now for
Charles River. The training has ranged from high level presentations for
management to regulatory training for Institutional Animal Care and Use Committees
and Principle Investigators.
Since beginning in
the field of laboratory animal medicine, I have spoken at LAWTE biennial
meetings, National and Branch AALAS meetings, the Charles River Short Course and
local schools and organizations in public outreach efforts.

I have a unique
position in that I do not have any direct reports, the materials that I produce
are used globally and presented by local trainers at each of our sites. My
mission is to provide resources to sites around the global with the goal of
improving efficiencies and helping to assure consistency across sites. Most of
my work involves facilitating the sharing of training via our company intranet,
development of specific training materials at the request of sites and working
to enhance the professional development of our site trainers.
A typical day is a
series of projects that require the ability to prioritize and follow through on
outstanding items. There is a large component of project management, including
team management and follow-up to assure that everyone stays on task. With no
direct reports, cultivating good working relationships with my colleagues at
different sites is very important to the success of my efforts.

In collaboration with
the Executive Director, I evaluated, designed and produced animal welfare-related
training programs four site globally.
This included coordination of global standardization and implementation
of these training programs. I conducted
training at sites, as necessary.
In our efforts to
develop a formalized knowledge management program, I collaborate on development
of our SharePoint departmental community. Once in place I developed and
maintained content for our Community. As editor of the Departmental Quarterly
Newsletter, I designed the layout and content of the publication. I worked with staff globally to share their
stories, good ideas, and training development efforts. Sharing our collective knowledge with +8500.
