Assistant Director
Responsibilities included: supervision of Youth Counselor staff, building management and
administration, operations, maintenance, grounds keeping, repair services and
kitchen supervision necessary to support the Ungar House Residence of GCCS.
Additional responsibilities included: monitoring
all maintenance, service and repair contracts; maintaining all record keeping
in compliance with the Office of Children and Family Services; facilitating
effective communication between the various units of the facility; planning,
developing and implementing operations policies and procedures.
In addition, the Assistant Director was also responsible for the
recruitment and retention of staff members for the New York City-based program and also the scheduling of staff
in order to ensure coverage levels were met, training and orientation of staff
members to assure they are in compliance with all internal and external
policies and procedures. Assisted in the development, implementation, and
participation in agency-wide training programs and ensured all staff under
their supervision complied with all mandated training. Supervised staff,
performed annual performance appraisals, met with staff on a regular basis, and
prepared appropriate documentation.
East Village Residence, Salvation Army Foster Care (New York, NY) June 1999—November 2007
Facility Supervisor
Responsible for
management and discharge planning for thirty-two residents and twenty staff
members of a supervised group home facility with at risk residents’ ages
ranging from eighteen to twenty-one. Knowledge of Administration for Children's
Services (ACS), experience working with adolescents, valid drivers' license and
the ability to travel independently throughout the NYC Metropolitan area.
Required excellent organizational, written, and verbal skills, acted as role
model for staff as well as residents, provided them with a structured, safe and
secured environment. Responsible for running recreational activity events,
provided lesson plans in advance, based on ages and abilities of the groups, as
well as assisted and organized special events.
