Dear Employer,
I am currently looking for a position that
offers training and advancement. I am confident that my educational background
and my work experience make me a great candidate for your company. Working as a
Manufacturing Engineer I've conducted time studies, completed costs estimates,
worked with all levels of employees in solving manufacturing problems, formulated
plant layout requirements, understand management control systems, justified and
selected equipment needed for production.
I’ve currently been working on contract
through RFA Minnesota Engineering at Caterpillar Global Paving as a
Manufacturing Engineer. I have over 5 years experience in a production
environment improving and setting up assembly processes.
My most previous employment was working as
an Industrial Engineer for Oshkosh Truck Corporation. Oshkosh Truck is a major
supplier of specialty trucks to both the military and commercial customers.
Some of the departments I was involved working with included the frame
assembly, cab shell, and transfer case lines.
Some of my responsibilities included being
shop floor support during production hours. If the assemblers ran into a
problem I helped them by answering any questions they had. This involved
explaining work instructions, training on how to read blue prints, the correct
way to use tooling/fixtures for the job, etc. I also balanced the assembly line
by creating standardized work to meet production requirements. My biggest
accomplishment was implementing a 2nd shift on the frame line due to production
increases. This involved establishing manpower requirements for both my
assembly line and my supporting sub areas. This was a large task getting all
new assemblers trained. Also coordinating with support personnel to insure the
correct tooling and materials were in the correct locations. My main goal as an
Industrial Engineer was to improve current assembly processes which would
ultimately lead to cutting costs and saving the company money.
I also have experience working with a Lean
Manufacturing team. This involved being a team member in a Kaizen event.
Working with management and shop floor personnel, the team performed an
evaluation of the production area that needed improvement. This included
discussions as to what problems needed to be addressed. The team conducted a
“waste walk” to create a value stream map of the current process. We also documented
value added and non-value added processes.
This was used to create a future state map of the work area to improve
the work flow and eliminate waste.
I welcome the opportunity to further
discuss any position you feel I would be qualified for. Please feel free to
call me anytime if you have any questions or would like to schedule an
interview. I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Dimothy Monre
