CompuCyte Corporation Westwood, MA
Sr.
Architect/Principal Software Engineer Feb
2009 – Aug 2011
Performed as
a principal among a small group of software developers supporting an advanced
quantitative imaging cytometry instrumentation for cell-based and tissue-based
analysis. Tasks included feature
implementations for a winforms based application and serveral hardwar e interfaces including a robot arm, A/D
image acquisition board and sentry security.
Most of the software application components were developed with MS
C#/.Net technologies while a smaller portion of the image processing components
were developed with c++. Standard and
non-standard image processing protocols/algorithms were utilized to enhance and
present the captured image data analysis.
Some of the other instrument hardware and software features included
multiple channel laser ilumination and photo-diode detectors, multi-threaded
interface for background image processing, modular workflow with analysis
components, local non-database XML data near the terrabyte level and support
for several image formats. Daily
interactions varied from working with the scientists on new features to deep code
maintenance and mentoring the developers, all while maintaining a constant eye
on high-level design decisions for both code, API’s and toolsets.
Mitre Corporation Bedford , MA
Sr. Systems
Engineer April
2007 – Jan 2009
Consultant
within Software Engineering group of the Command and Control division
performing multiple prototyping tasks
ranging from security research and analysis topics to enterprise wide SOA
analysis and design improvements.
Provided deep technical engagements and guidance to various customers
including the Air Force, STATCOM and several other DOD branch offices who
understand the benefits of an objective voice in technology knowledge. Most notable prototype efforts include
participation in design and development of an active deployment for the AF to
assist in the homeland security’s mission control of UAV’s, and a conference
demonstration at the MPUC for a working weather image overlay plugin to a
highly regarded military tacticle software mapping client. Other tasks involved analysis research of
entitlements security layers for SOA environments and a Google Earth mashup
client build to display flight path routes.

Senior
Software Engineer – R&D July
2005 - April 2007
As a key member
to a small research and development team, I help establish a software
production process from which several prototypes were realized. Primary tasks have included introducing good
practice methods and general software development processes (Agile), bringing
on board a source code respository, supporting standard C#/.Net design
practices, and purchasing and setting up automated build systems for a set of regression
testing machines. At times, provided
advice on software tool requisitions, aided in general architecture and design
for implementations, and performed many beta releases for one of the department’s
main products thru out a full year. This
included implementing all the new features, fixing countless bugs and working
thru any modifications related to stabilizing it’s multi-threading issues. Main prototyping duties included C#/.Net
coding of spectral image analysis software, input for user interface usability
cases and full implementation of GUI designs utilizing an internal plug-in
technology for rapid prototyping designs.
Latest prototype was an automated slide scanning microscope system of
which I took from initial concept thru to prototype finalization including all
hardware interfaces, architectural designs and all automation implementations. With sub-micron stage movement, multiple
motorized lens facilities and CCD driven spectral analsis capture system, this
product proved to be a fine addition to my professional experience.

Senior
Software Engineer June
2002 Dec 2004
Principle
tasks involved design and implementation of enhancements for a real-time stock
market software primarily utilizing Microsoft Visual C++/C# technologies. This software product was a three-tier,
client-server solution having an MS SQL DB for the backend and several server
components which provided near instantaneous stock order thru-put for both
Clearing-house brokers and end-users.
After a year of enhancements to the original design, responsibilities
shifted to included evaluation of MS .Net technologies for a porting of this
product to C# to take advantage of solutions to a limited connection
bandwidth. As a core member to the
design team, a conversion of every component was done from C++ to C#. New .Net web technologies and the latest
security interfaces were utilitzed to increase the server connection counts,
broadening the bandwidth as well providing a more substantial user
interface. In addition to
implementation, this position often required mentoring of junior members of a
small but highly skilled team in a fast paced client support environment
related to the financial industry.
AccuSoft
Corporation Northborough , MA
Software
Engineer Dec
1999 to Aug 2001
Core member of
a small design group, which architected a new internet software product from
UML/OOD thru to its final implementation phase.
This product utilized many third party components and technologies, most
notably, MFC/C++, the Rogue Wave Tools++/DBTools++, TAO CORBA, IBM’s Xerces XML
parser, IBM’s ICU international conversion libs, XML, D
L, CGI in C,
Microsoft’s Internet Explorer activeX browser engine and the GO++’s workflow
ActiveX component, MS SQL Server, IIS, and ODBC. As a member of the team, I was responsible
for the designs and implementations with almost all of the technologies to
bring this product to its final tested phase.
Our milestones were met and the results were nothing short of a
fantastic new type of real time collaboration tool for the Internet.
Assurance Medical,
Inc. Hopkinton , MA
Software
Engineer - Contract May
1999 to Nov 1999
Designed
and implemented database architecture and GUI for a software product, which
will be sold along with a medical diagnostics device, related to breast cancer
palpation screening. Application design
was based on UML/OOD, MFC Doc/View architecture and DAO with embedded SQL for
MS Access. This product was slated to
pass FDA approval and therefore required strict enforcement of testing
multi-levels to pass government regulations as well as ISO9000 compliance. This included ‘white-box’ (unit)testing,
‘black-box’ and proactive assertion and exception handling. This product was brought to its final stages
of implementation, on time and within budget.

Client/Server
Software Engineer Oct
1997 to May 1999
Performed
complete development cycle of client/server prototype applications in C++
Builder on Pervasive.SQL 7.0, which paved the way for the company wide
migration to the Windows 95/98 platform.
Implementation of these in-house applications involved analysis of
business processes and data architecture, interface design, coding, real-time
server and laptop deployment, as well as follow-up enhancements. In addition, I was providing valuable guidance
in maintaining, automating and documenting core legacy data processing heavily
dependent on C code and the Btrieve database system. Other tasks have included client and
server-side database installation and efficiency configurations as well as providing
mentor support to a small group of data analysts utilizing 4GL SAS scripts and
SQL.

custom on-line support for both DOS and Windows client/server, relational
database products on a project level.
Position involved ownership of client requests from initial system
analysis thru to scheduling, design, implementation and on-site installation. Among some of the accomplishments were the
design, development, and maintenance of several ASCII data tools for data
