evaluation, high level design, overall project management, problem solving, and
final migration.
·

and analyze existing client connectivity on BT Radianz Network and understand/design

VLANS, HSRP, NAT/PAT, RIP, BGP, QOS, router/switch connectivity into high level

Cigna Healthcare (Matlen Silver
Inc, Bridgewater, NJ - Telecommute) September
2009 – July 2010
Senior Network Design Engineer
Senior Network Engineer working as a
contractor to AT&T in support of their 750 million dollar network
infrastructure refresh contract with IBM and CIGNA insurance. Primary duties include converting multiple
CIGNA locations from a legacy frame-relay network to a modernized MPLS network
and refreshing multiple sites’ legacy LAN equipment. I am responsible for design and
implementation of backbone network ranging from small sites to large complex
datacenters.
·
Network
designer for CIGNA. Responsible for
design and implementation of LAN, MAN, and WAN connectivity in multiple
locations. Multiple switches ranging
from 3700 to 6500 series and Routers ranging from 3825 to 7206 series being
implemented throughout the CIGNA Healthcare global network.
·
Coordinated
the cutover of multiple sites to the MPLS network, as well as configured WAN
routers to talk across the CIGNA wide BGP MPLS Network. Ensured network downtime would be minimized
by adding additional circuits on additional routers at many of the critical
sites.
·
Noticed
multiple flaws in the circuit ordering and maintenance procedures and developed
an easier, more streamlined approach to minimize errors in orders. In
incorporating these changes, I was able to find multiple stale circuits which
CIGNA and AT&T were paying for, although they were not using them.
Immediately put in disconnect orders for these circuits saving both company
thousands of dollars worth of erroneous charges.
·
Coordinator
of the IP addressing scheme used across the CIGNA MPLS WAN. Ensured IP
addressing and BGP Autonomous System Numbers (BGP-AS) were unique across the
network.
·
Supported
Virtual Routing and Forwarding Lite (VRF-Lite) down to core and access 6500
series switches. This allowed for each line of business to be virtually
