large-scale R/3 4.6C implementation and integration project using PS and
IM for a multinational company with sites in Europe, USA, Canada, Mexico,
and Brazil, and revenues in excess of eighteen billion dollars.
- My role was to develop the
scope definition, then Blue print, Realization, Preparation for
Go-Live, and Post-Go-Live support.
- Also I developed training
materials, and conducted training for super users and end-users.
- I had a leading role in the
integration testing efforts, supervising the testing team to come up with
real life scenarios to challenge to system in close coordination with
teams from other modules.
- I had a leading role in the
data mapping design, conversion and migration efforts from the legacy
system to SAP, writing functional specification for ABAP programs, testing
the programs, and approving them, conversion of legacy data, structures,
actual costs and budgets, and open purchase orders (commitments)
- The Budget was configured to
meet highly demanding and complicated requirements: it can be derived from
an approved cost plan, or directly as original budget, and approved budget
can be released by people with authorization on a yearly or overall basis,
tools like budget transfer, budget return, and budget supplement,
availability control were very useful for the client
- The client uses PS to manage
the capital projects as complex investment measures, and Internal Orders
as simple investment measures; they are assigned to Investment Position of
the Investment Program (integration with IM-PS-CO and AA, the client had
the opportunity to evaluate the use of appropriation requests).
- The handling of Investment
program (Capital Investment) included program structuring (based on profit
center hierarchy), program planning, and Budgeting, program versions were
used.
- Investment program year-end
process included copying the structure to the next fiscal year, investment
measures budget carry-forward, and commitment carry-forward
- Customer project with RRB (SD
Resource-Related Billing, and Milestone & Periodic Billing)
(integration with CO-PA), and R&D projects, The work included
configuration of project profiles, investment profiles, settlement
profiles (complete configuration of allocation structure, source
assignment, and PA transfer structure for certain profiles), and planning
and budgeting profiles with yearly and overall planning and budgeting and
availability control activated. The
IM Module was configured to allow automatic creation of assets under
construction (AuC).
- Program variants and
selection variants were configured to facilitate PS and IO month-end
activities, PS reports were created using report painter. The data migration from the legacy
system AS400 to SAP was smooth and accurate, post-go-live support took one
month at the end of which we performed month-end process, and later
year-end process for 2002. As part
of my role I had to help setting up authorization profile, activity
groups, and assign user groups to profiles.

Texts.
- The PS module was implemented
in close integration with HR CATS.
- Project scheduling was
configured using project planning board at the network activity level.
- Workforce planning was
configured to give the project manager complete control over the schedule
and the team assigned to WBS elements, using work center hierarchy and HR
work centers

configured to give complete control and transparency to the work center
responsible person at any level.
