Maya Paranzino
My knowledge
of multiple disciplines of engineering as related to facilities
engineering stems from my 21 years of
experience as a Project Manager/Architect
on various facilities designs. As Project Manager I have coordinated the
design work
of multiple disciplines to produce
concise, coherent design packages for facilities
construction. From my education and experience I am capable
of reading and
interpreting the design drawings of
multiple disciplines. In Planning I am
required
to be knowledgeable of all disciplines of
engineering to provide for the total needs of
the Facility. Our Facilities Management Branch is
responsible for the planning, utilization, maintenance and rehabilitation of
1.123 M square feet of facilities.
My experience as a Planner for 21 years at Wallops has made me familiar
and
comfortable with the professional and
technical disciplines related to planning.
I have
interacted a great deal with the
technical and craft trades of our Facility to produce
strong planning packages utilizing
Pre-Project Planning. My many years as a
Project
Manager has made me familiar with the
procurement process as well as contract
administration.
Having worked for the Virginia Department of Highways and Transportation
for
nearly 5 years as a Surveyor I was
required to research and trace engineering surveys and plats through deed
investigation in the county records building in both Accomack and Northampton Counties . This was to evaluate and locate right of
ways, property lines, variances, and any other peculiarities that might affect
the construction of new roadways.
As a Project Manager/Architect I reviewed
and evaluated Pre-Engineering Reports (PER’s) prior to their release for design
as general construction projects.
My experience in all my positions has provided me the skills and ability
to coordinate
with all levels of management,
professional, administrative and trade personnel. I have had to coordinate the work of General
Contractor trade personnel and administration with
NASA contract management. I have coordinated efforts between the
Wallops Facilities
Coordinating Committee and its
counter-part at Greenbelt
pertaining to facilities planning. I
have helped to negotiate the proper needs of customers at the Facility with our
design engineers, and I have coordinated efforts of outside A&E firms with
our administrators and engineering staff.
Having become familiar with general government regulations and
requirements in engineering and construction, code compliances, (especially
Americans with Disabilities Act) and working with our Environmental Operations
group has provided me with knowledge of regulations interpretations.
