I am a dedicated
craftsman with 27+ years of experience in the trade and have recently moved
back to southern California and purchased a home. The completion of a 4-‐year California state-‐certified
apprenticeship program and mentoring with old-‐school German
machinists gives me a unique skill set and an excellent work ethic. At this
stage in my career, I am looking for more! I want to contribute and be part of
the future: I want to work on truly unique projects. IF your shop/labs are
working on tomorrow's ideas, with out-‐of-‐ the-‐box thinkers then give
me a call. My skill set will compliment and thrive in such an environment.
I have worked on
projects ranging from sighting/thermal imaging systems for tanks and
helicopters, military and commercial satellites, (including the Chandra X-‐ray telescope), to open heart surgery defibrillator hardware,
solid state high/low power laser packages, oscilloscopes. I am also at home
working in a clean room environment. My experience with jig and fixture
design/building (most recently for use in the placement of lenses in high power
laser packages), gives me an edge.

techniques.
EXPERIENCE:
2011 -‐ PRESENT. INTRIMED TECHNOLOGIES, INC. OXNARD, CALIFORNIA
MASTER MACHINIST
I took a chance with a startup
company, Intrimed Technologies, (unfortunately no longer
viable) and moved back to southern
California. This has been a great experience that has allowed me to further my
training with the Agie Progress VP2 Wire EDM and get my Master Cam X5 skills up
to date. While with Intrimed I have been working in the tool room providing
quick turn fixtures/tooling for the production lines and prototype/replacement
parts for our stamping tools. With my experience in the design/production
of laser products I have provided Intrimed a unique edge with the Rofin Laser
by helping design and build tooling/fixtures for the production of delicate
experimental products.
DECEMBER 2006 –
07/2011 TEKTRONIX, BEAVERTON OREGON
MODEL MAKER 3
I worked in the model
shop at Tektronix Inc. building quick turnaround prototype hardware,
engineering models, fabrication tooling, and production tooling for Tek China
and customer deliverables. Using my expertise I provided technical support for
our engineering staff to help make the transition from prototype to production
smoother and more cost effective. I have worked procuring new machinery and
software for the model shop and was selected and trained in Chicago for our
Agie Classic S wire EDM machine using all shop equipment available, including
CNC/manual milling machines, CNC wire EDM, lathes, and grinders. I also worked
in the sheet metal shop, did some tig welding, and performed heat treatment. I
have implemented cost saving and efficiency procedures in accordance with 5s
protocols.
MARCH 2004 – DECEMBER
2006 NLIGHT PHOTONICS VANCOUVER, WASHINGTON MASTER MACHINIST /
TOOL DESIGNER
(While still living in
OR). As part of our packaging group, I work directly with our Sr. engineers
developing new products. Using my experience in the space and defense industry
(TRW 13yrs), I provided technical support during design reviews for products
under development while managing our machine shop’s day to day operations;
building all our prototypes for new products, pre-production customer
shipments, engineering models used for testing /process development, and cost
estimations. I was responsible for designing and fabricating tooling fixtures
for FAB areas, engineering labs and facilities. Use a combination of SolidWorks/MasterCam
to create models and CNC machine tool programs while making full use of my
extensive skills to produce such hardware manually when necessary. Ordering,
and maintaining all support supplies for machine shop use and keeping records
for shop accounting. I also provided research and technical advice for the
procurement of new shop and lab equipment. I conducted classes instructing
engineers lab techs on the safety and proper use of machine shop equipment and
mentored several assistants and student/junior engineers.

EXPERIMENTAL MACHINIST
Programed and set up a
variety of CNC and conventional machines to produce hardware in the healthcare
industry per blueprints, sketches, engineering drawings and verbal
instructions. Inspect all hardware to meet print requirements. Worked with a
team to correct and complete a heart surgery defibrillator. I mostly worked on
tooling and fixtures for the cable winding machines and cable termination. PI is
known for the smallest coax cables used in the medical field.
