Eaton Corp. (Cleveland, OH) project responsibilities included technical architecture and development of a Windows 2000 Professional-imaging project, NT/2000/SMS Network Administration and application packaging for their 35,000+ server/client multi-site network environment. Some of the more noteworthy accomplishments include:
§  The imaging project included the design, testing, automation and implementation of Windows 2000 Professional SYSPREP images for their standardized Dell desktop and laptop systems.  I successfully developed SYSPREP images utilizing a variety of tools (e.g. Install Shield, MSI, WMI, Ghost, SYSPREP, SMS Installer, SMS scripting, Visual Basic, etc.).  A related enhancement and accomplishment included the development of a Visual Basic auto-update NT service utilizing SQL and FTP, which was integrated into the Windows 2000 Professional SYSPREP image. This Auto-update service would automatically check the system and if needed, would silently install managed updates (e.g. drivers, security updates, patches, etc.)
§  Developed a visual basic auto-update NT service for the workstations and servers which would wake up and check for updates from a central SQL database.  If system required an update, the NT Service would retrieve the package, download to the workstation/server and install silently.
§  The NT/2000/SMS Network Administration responsibilities included administration of all related system components (e.g. Logon/Distribution Servers, CAPs, Primary, Central and Secondary Site servers, SMS clients, software distributions, client support, inventory, site connections support, security updates, anti-virus, troubleshooting, updates, database maintenance, backups, etc.)
§  The application packaging support included creating silent and automated packages for SMS 2.0 distributions, WEB installations and other portable methods/technologies (i.e. CD-ROM, Fileservers, etc.).  A major accomplishment included the development of an elevated permission wrapper using Visual Basic and different packaging tools/technologies to address security and automated installations for non-standard situations and/or client workstations and users without required installation privileges.
