I work with individuals and groups to help them develop and carry

their lives. I coach them from the inside out to define and reach their
goals. I

as their accountability partner to help them get from where they are to where
they
want to be.
Lumpkin
County Middle School: 7-8 Guidance
Counselor
I provided a comprehensive guidance program to the 600 students in
grades 7 & 8.
I
also served as the liaison to the school’s parent committee, and I served on
the School Improvement Committee.
Lexington
High School: 9-12 Guidance Counselor
Lexington High School has a student body of 2700 students in grades
9-12. It is one of
the
highest achieving schools in South
Carolina with 76% of all AP test scores being a
3 or higher. At the same time Lexington High School
has a diverse population of
students with approximately 30%
being eligible for free or reduced lunch.
My
responsibilities included working
with a team of counselors to provide a comprehensive
guidance program. My case load was 450 students. I met with each student in an
individual conference during the
year. I also met with all senior parents
in
individual conferences. I developed and wrote the curriculum for a
small group for
college bound seniors entitled
“Moving On”. This group looked at such
topics as,
“Working Through
the College Application Maze”, “Financing a College Education”, “Roommates,
Course Syllabi, and Other Strange Things”, “Time and Money Management”, and
“Leaving Home”.
Lee-Scott Academy: P-12 – Guidance Counselor (2004-2007)
Teacher (1993-2004)
I was
responsible for providing guidance services to our 650 students including
student athletes. I was a member of the administrative team for the school. I also planned and conducted an on-campus
college fair for our secondary students.
I served as the testing coordinator, and I was responsible for updating
and dispersing transcripts.
Additionally, my duties included directing our school’s community
service program, and I sponsored the National Honor Societies. I developed a Servant-Leadership class and a
World Affairs class which were added to our school’s curriculum. Along with a
fellow faculty member, I obtained funding, taught, and wrote the curriculum for
a summer program entitled, “Philanthropy 101”.
Students were chosen by application to participate in this three week
program where they learned about philanthropy, visited non-profit
organizations, and ultimately donated $700 each from the grant money to the
non-profit organization of their choice. In my final year at Lee-Scott our
senior class earned an average of $35,000 per student in scholarship
offers. This was an average increase of
$25,500 per student from four years prior. I also negotiated a dual enrollment
credit agreement with our local community college for our students to take
on-line classes through the college and receive both high school and college
credit. Courses taught: World History, U.S. History, Computer Applications, Accounting
Southern Union State Community College – Adjunct
Instructor
I planned,
organized and taught Western Civ. I & II in the college’s distance learning
program..I prepared and maintained a current syllabus for the courses. I
created and maintained a website for the classes. I communicated with students
through e-mail and
telephone. I
developed testing instruments for the courses.
Northwood Christian Academy: Grades 7-8 Teacher
I taught History
and English. I conducted a workshop for staff on creative writing and
portfolios. I also organized and
sponsored spring trips for our junior high classes.
Hackleburg Furniture – Full Charge Bookkeeper
I was
responsible for payroll, accounts receivable and accounts payable for the
furniture store. Additionally, I kept
the books for the owner’s farm.
