Current Project:

200 West Pump and Treat System

The Department of Energy’s 200 West Area Pump and Treat System at the Hanford Site is to be the largest treatment system for contaminated groundwater to date. It will pump water from the ground and remove several chemical and radioactive contaminants, including the primary contaminant of concern - carbon tetrachloride. Contaminants originate from the Cold War era, during which time liquids contaminated with chemicals and radioactive elements were discharged from plutonium production facilities to several soil disposal sites, resulting in a five-square-mile area of groundwater contamination above drinking water levels.

           

The 200 West Pump and Treat Facility include the RAD Building, the Bio Process Building, Treatment Pad, and all of the ancillary equipment and systems located at the plant site.  The Bio Process building is a clear span LEED Gold, pre-engineered metal building.  The RAD Building is a clear span, LEED Guiding Principles, pre-engineered metal building. The Balance of Plant consists of two Extraction Transfer Buildings, two Injection Transfer Buildings, 20 extraction wells and the associated yard piping and wellhead facilities.

PNNL Physical Science Facility – 7/01/08 – 7/26/09

Project Engineer/MEP Coordinator

This $105 million project is the largest of three new federally and privately funded facilities being built on PNNL’s north Richland campus. The Physical Science Facility is comprised of a Radiation Detection facility, a Materials Science and Technology building, an Ultra-Trace, a high-bay for research, a laboratory located forty feet below the surface, and a radiation portal monitoring test track. The facility houses 450 staff to support national security and energy research missions. Specialty construction aspects include clean room systems, laminar flow and fume hoods, glove boxes and specialty gas piping systems. The electrical and communications systems are required to work at a level above normal facilities, including a radiological emissions monitoring system and an intricately involved video surveillance control system.

Mount Spokane Middle School – 10/01/06 – 5/01/08

Mountainside Middle School is the latest addition to the Mead School District’s line-up of state-of-the-art facilities.  This 112,000 square foot facility was built in 18 months.  The project remained on schedule through one of the worst winters in Spokane history due to great teamwork between the Owner, NAC Architecture, Lydig Construction, and a quality group of subcontractors. The school is constructed using steel frame and CMU block with brick veneer. Intricate detail was included in all aspects of the masonry, including corbeling elements throughout to give additional visual interest to the building.  This project received the 2008 Build Northwest Award from the Inland Northwest AGC.

Spokane Community College Science Building – 4/15/05 – 8/15/06

This new 65,000 square foot, three-story building, features 14 math and science classrooms and 13 life and physical science laboratories, which together accommodate up to 920 additional students. The facility also contains 38 offices for use of up to 54 instructors and staff. Unique features of the building include suspended digital hallway clocks, red-light/green light signaling system indicating appropriate times to open windows based on outdoor weather conditions, and motion sensors that control lighting in classrooms and offices.

National Guard Readiness Center – 3/12/04 – 4/01/05

    The Readiness Center is the training and mobilization site for over 330 Washington Guardsmen. The 68,847 square foot facility includes classrooms, complex food service areas, locker rooms, administrative offices, storage, maintenance, and training areas, and a 6,676 square foot assembly hall. Its primary role is training and operations for the National Guard.
