I drove dramatic improvements in quality,
productivity revenue and profits for ESAB,
a high-tech industrial equipment maker (a division of $4B Colfax Corp.). Directing all aspects of manufacturing operations
from R&D, engineering and supply chain to production, QA and distribution,
I developed and launched new products, won new accounts and built profitable
global distribution channels. I can contribute by:
r Providing strong strategic vision and
tactical leadership
r Developing and commercializing innovative
high tech products
r Optimizing processes and systems to improve
productivity and quality
r Building win-win strategic alliances with
customers and business partners
Recognized for high performance, I have been
rewarded with a steady stream of promotions. My education includes a PhD (ABD) in Engineering Management, Kennedy Western University, coursework
towards an MSEE (University of North
Carolina) and a BS in Power Electronics,
(Saurashtra University, India). Speak Hindi, Gujrati, Swahili, Urdu.

Accomplishments
Created
new distribution unit, boosting plasma sales 60%. ESAB was losing its
market leadership position in plasma cutting equipment due to a limited direct
sales model. Convinced board to create a standalone global sales unit.
Developed new channels in EU and emerging markets. Took plasma sales from $20M
to $32M+ first year.
Revitalized
R&D, creating innovative products. Aging product line
threatened ESAB edge in cutting/welding systems. Reorganized R&D group.
Reenergized group, focusing on innovation and expedited commercialization.
Produced number of new state-of-the-art high-margin products. Simultaneously
cut R&D costs 30%.
Turnaround
boosts sales 30% and EBIT 13%. Tasked to lead turnaround following 2001
economic slump. Focused product development and sales efforts on untapped/emerging
technology segments least impacted by downturn, including wind energy,
shipbuilding and defense. Generated significant new sales while also cutting
SG&A costs 15%.
Rationalized
product portfolio. Five ESAB Global Cutting Div. plants in EU,
S. America and Asia had separate product portfolios. Consolidated R&D into
a single global resource using Modular Function Deployment (MFD). Introduced 25
new products; discontinued 455 SKUs. Cut costs 15% while driving steep
increases in sales volume.
Managed EU
rightsizing initiative. ESAB European operation was struggling to
beat competitor pricing due to high costs. Assigned to lead cost cutting
initiative. Assembled diversified management team from all EU regions to review
reorganization possibilities. Reduced headcount by 400 while maintaining morale
and increasing productivity.
Startup
retrofit business generates $2.3M high-margin first-year sales. ESAB was
missing opportunity to capture potentially lucrative market in upgrading old
equipment. Launched new group to jump start retrofit business. Created
easily-installed, competitively-priced upgrade kits. Generated $2.3M revenue at
47% margin first year.
