As a temporary employee of a contractor for
the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), wrote end user manuals for two
applications. The applications are used by VA medical personnel to view images
such as CT scans, MRI scans and scanned documents. Using Requirements documentation and use of
the applications for information about how to use the software.
Peak Technical Services, Technical Writer (June 2011 to June 2011)
Duties/Responsibilities: As a temporary
technical writer for an armored vehicle manufacturing facility, proofread and edited
a multi-volume technical manual using structured Framemaker. Worked with
Technical Analysts to ensure technical accuracy of work packages.
ABB Inc, Sr. Technical Writer (February 2009 to June 2011)
Duties/Responsibilities: As a Senior Technical Writer, wrote a
technical manual for a line of dry-type transformers manufactured and delivered
to the US Navy. Developed and maintained
an electrical design engineering standards
template and worked with engineers to produce several engineering standards. Wrote application notes for distribution to customers. Using military standards for rubber material used
in extremely hot environments, procured a material that
allowed ABB to pass the “drip test” and also allowed the Lead Engineer to work

Marine Corps to produce a Joint tactics, techniques,

employee for a project that supported Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM),
wrote and edited software requirements specifications. Participated in requirements documentation sessions
with warfighters and a Government review of specification documents.
EDS, Information Specialist/Analyst (August 2006 to March 2007)
Duties/Responsibilities: As a contract employee for the Department of State in the Program Management and Analysis Directorate, gathered user requirements, investigated website development tools,
industry best practices for website design, and coordinated the development of
the website among a team of developers and a
committee of users. Used Dreamweaver to develop a prototype of the user interface. Presented the prototype of the website to the
Director.
Computer Sciences Corporation, Technical Writer/Analyst (August 2003 to July 2006)
Duties/Responsibilities: As a contract employee for
the Department of State LAN/WAN Services (IRM/OPS/ITI/LWS) Branch, helped
renovate local area networks for embassies.
Trained and assisted network technicians in performing site surveys,
planning required network renovations, and performing network testing for the
classified and unclassified networks. Developed
a Microsoft Access database to track equipment and produce reports used to bill
embassies for services rendered. Ensured

Battelle Memorial Institute, Technical Writer/Analyst (September 2001 to August 2003)
Duties/Responsibilities: Using RoboHelp, wrote the user guides, reference guides, and online
help for a Java-based application developed for emergency management communities
based on the prototype and beta test versions of the application. During second release development, ensured
online help and all written documentation still accurately reflected the
application. Wrote use cases for the second release. Trained users during an emergency management
exercise that was used to demonstrate the product.
PRC, Technical Writer/Analyst (February 1999 to September 2001)
Duties/Responsibilities: As a member of the
team responsible for acquiring the radar systems for the USS Reagan, attended
meetings, maintained the minutes, assisted in development of presentations,
compiled weekly and bi-weekly reports, and coordinated the online calendar for
the team. Working with the project
management team, developed the standard operating procedures for a
Configuration Management (CM) plan, an Independent Verification and Validation
