PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
DynaPump, Northridge, CA 2008
- 2011
Electrical
System/Software Engineer
One of two engineers responsible for
designing and documenting state of the art oil pumps. The pumps were PLC
controlled and hydraulically driven via VFD AC inductive motors. This allowed
for a state of the art pump that could be controlled in both stroke length and
up/down speeds. Controls included VFD drives, up to 200 HP inductive motors,
regenerative electrical brakes, PLC’s, HMI’s, remote SCADA offsite monitoring
and control. The PLC software monitored up to 50 alarm conditions for automatic
safety shutdown and various well conditions to optimize oil production. Job
required many field trips to upgrade and troubleshoot system plus train onsite
technicians. Provided oil companies technician assistance in measuring input
power for rebates based on power factor and harmonic distortion.
CREDENCE, Sunnyvale, CA 2007
- 2008
System
Engineer
I was asked to fill in for an engineer who
was placed on emergency extended medical leave.
Tasks included basic level documentation,
circuit design, schematic capture and PCB layout. Generated ECO’s to turn
engineering drawings into production quality. Designed three circuits using
schematic capture and PCB layout tools.
SMITH AEROSPACE, Corona, CA 2005
- 2007
Senior
System Engineer
Coordinated the collection of poorly
written vendor specifications and the overseeing that these requirements were
correctly placed within DOORS modules for the next generation Air Refueling
system onboard a Boeing 767 aircraft. Re-issued
poorly defined system requirement documents.
- Member of a team tasked to expedite BIT requirements into DOORS modules. Required knowledge of analog sensor interfaces for temperature, pressure, speed and position used in a hydraulic feedback controlled system. Over 250 BIT tests defined and written.
- Designed and built special test equipment used in qualification testing and EMI testing.
ROCKWELL COLLINS, San Jose, CA 1999
- 2005
Senior
System Engineer
Partitioned and flowed down requirements
specifications for advance military aircraft display systems to various
engineering entities. Focal point for providing detailed documentation for
software, hardware, interfaces, BIT, cooling, mechanical, environmental and testing
requirements. Led system integration and
tests for several systems, and part of FCA teams. System included Heads Down, Heads Up, and
Helmet Mounted Displays for military aircraft using both AMLCD and Projection
technologies.
- Lead system engineer for Universal Soldier. System provided dismounted soldier with battery powered night and day sensors viewed through helmet-mounted display.
ABBOTT LABS, San Diego, CA 1997
- 1999
Consultant
Design Engineer
Member of an engineering team that defined
the requirements and designed a battery backed-up medical infusion pump used in
emergency vehicles and hospital environments.
- Skills required include DC/DC converters, servomotors, low voltage and low power circuits, and non-volatile memory design for life critical applications.
APPLIED MEASUREMENT SYSTEMS, Sandpoint, ID 1991
-1997
Senior
System Engineer
Provided support and led team testing
quarter scale submarines for stealth technology at a Naval research lab. Tasks
included coordination of tests with research scientists, data recording and acoustic
analysis. Required skills in time domain
and frequency analysis (FFT) plus high-speed digital recording.
OTHER SIGNIFICANT EXPERIENCE
- Qualifying Electrical Panels for UL certification.
- Power Studies.
- PLC Ladder Logic Programming, HMI Touch Screen Programming, GUI Interfaces.
- Designing in safety protection for both the equipment and personnel.
