PROFESSIONAL SKILLS

Continuous improvement / Product evolution:
  • Successfully guided creative engagement to analyze and consolidate 22 Marriott International, Inc. intranet sites into a single user experience for all Marriott Associates worldwide and provide content publishing efficiencies.  Project required requirements definition, new information architecture, new content management system templates, new visual design and new style guide.
  • Successfully led content migration and quality assurance efforts resulting in seamless transfer of Marriott.com content (text and imagery) from five global sites into a new content management system (Vignette).
  • Relocated and delivered a new British Airways web site (www.ba.com) on schedule and on budget. This overseas assignment required a comprehensive site redesign based on new foundation architecture and an integrated content management solution.  Project included creative and technical redesign, engineering, development, and testing of a new Web site.  Assumed total project management control for three previously separate work streams (User Experience, Organization & Rollout, and Architecture & Infrastructure) which were all merged into a single project.
  • Designed and implemented electronic transaction reporting methodology for remote sites, reducing processing time by 21 days and resulting in potential savings of over $30M in direct manpower charges.
  • Established common and best project management practices across all contracted DuPont engagements and a financial reporting structure that provided P&L information across the entire DuPont account.
  • Mentored and trained 25+ new and junior project managers.
  • Managed multiple hotel renovation projects (guestrooms, suites, concierge lounges, ballrooms, meeting rooms, boardrooms, pre-function areas, restaurants and lobbies) to quality, schedule and budget.  Project budgets ranged from $1M to $39M.
    • Recently managed the complete renovation of the Hilton McLean Tysons Corner to include 311 Guestrooms, Suites, Corridors and all Public Spaces.
    • Experienced in managing the development of scopes of work, estimates of cost, bidding & contracting, procurement of materials, installations of services, and financial & scheduling management associated with the renovation of multiple lodging properties.  Consistently met budgetary & scheduling requirements.
    • Developed relationships with and provided constant and consistent communications to ownership, regional teams and properties.  Understand and communicate business drivers, transaction details, project-related issues and resolutions of a project.

Financial management / budget:
  • Established and managed budget, cost estimate, schedule and risks for assigned projects.  Reviewed all payment requisitions and change order requests.  Liaison with Finance on contract, budget management, change orders and invoicing.  Developed and managed financial forecasts of the project.
    • Managed cost and change control for a substantial renovation project by challenging contractor/vendor request for change and identifying alternative cost-effective solutions; resulted in project being delivered on schedule and $2.5M under budget.
  • Served as winning Proposal Manager for competitive procurement of a security services contract valued at $7M
  • Developed qualified bidders list of General Contractors and FF&E Contractors.  Prepared and issued bid packages; negotiated and issued contracts; reviewed and authorized legitimate change orders; prepared forecasts and monthly reports for stakeholders.

Schedule Management:
  • Co-managed creative tasks and deliverables during an aggressive 11-month initiative that expanded Marriott.com's capabilities and added critical features to meet the needs of its customers and business partners, now and in the future; project was the most significant upgrade to Marriott's internet presence since its inception in 1997.
  • Managed a creative design engagement for Harrods of London Web site despite a fixed-price contract, 7-week timeline, parallel work schedules for Information Architecture, Design, and Content work streams, and a multi-city iXL team.  Successfully managed external challenges including a sophisticated client, a multi-country client, online branding consistent with Harrods legacy, design integration with Vignette content management system and international time zones.
  • Developed and tracked project schedules.  Tracked and reviewed construction documents (Architectural / Engineering drawings and specifications) to better manage scope, schedule and change control.

OPERATIONS:
  • Provided end-to-end project administration, including: planning, budgeting, forecasting, staffing, scheduling, tasking, status reporting, oversight, execution, control, issue resolution and solution selling for integrated internet solutions and hotel renovations.
  • Facilitated internal and third-party relationships through clear and effective organization and articulation of concepts, ideas, and opportunities.  Acted as senior point of contact for clients.
  • Oversight and responsibility for 11 project managers and $14.4M of deliverables for Marriott eCommerce project initiatives.
  • Managed iXL’s DuPont Global Program Management Office (PMO) with project management oversight of all worldwide projects contracted by DuPont to iXL.
  • Oversight and responsibility for on-site performance and training of 40 contractor employees supporting a Government security services contract.
  • Coordinated and managed nationwide transition of 75+ Government/contractor personnel and administrative/IT operations to new Government facilities in Northern Virginia.
