I assume the safety responsibilities for 80 plant and terminal employees.
I oversee regulatory compliance for the Trident plant & quarry (MSHA Part
46, DOT, Montana State Crane & Elevator, and ATF regulations), and for the
Black Butte mine (MSHA Part 48). I conduct plant and quarry inspections. I currently conduct all new miner, hazard,
and annual refresher trainings. I perform industrial hygiene duties including
sampling for: respirable dust, total dust, noise, welding fumes, and
asbestos. I perform all safety record
keeping duties. I manage our workers compensation and return to work programs.
I also oversee the Holcim Contractor Safety Program. I conduct safety
meetings for each crew. I lead the plant safety committee and the Montana
Mining Association joint safety committee. In accordance to Holcim Limited
policies, we have implemented: the Fatality Prevention Elements Safety Initiative,
a safety observation system, a near miss reporting program, and a job safety
analysis program to reduce accident/incident rates. Additionally, I oversee the
safety efforts at 9 terminals in MN, WI, MI, and IL. This includes providing
guidance to the facility managers on OSHA and Homeland Security regulations. I have
participated/lead safety scorecard audits at various Holcim US Inc. plants and terminals.

Director (January 2005 – December 2007)
I organized and
provided OSHA, MSHA, and Federal Motor Carrier safety trainings, ACI classes,
Concrete Technology classes, and numerous other trainings to a variety of
employers throughout the state of Montana. I worked directly with the two-year
colleges in the State of Montana providing National Center for Construction
Education and Research (NCCER) training and assisting them in curriculum
development and implementation. I worked directly with the MCA Concrete
Division & the ACI Subcommittee, MCA Safety Committee, MCA Education
Committee, American Concrete Institute (ACI) Committee, and Construction
Financial Management Association (CFMA) to facilitate bi-monthly meetings. I
managed the MCA Education Foundation (501 c 3). I sat on the advisory boards
of: MSU Billings College of Technology, UM Missoula College of Technology, UM
Helena College of Technology, Miles Community College, BILT Grant, and Salish
Kootenai College. I was a member on the MSU Billings COT (carpentry), and BILT
grant hiring and curriculum committee. I
organized various construction career fairs throughout the state. I also assisted
various colleges to leverage funding for construction programs.

I managed FMLA for the Department of Public Health & Human Services.
This included reviewing time sheets to track the available number of FMLA hours
for employees, and notifying employees of their FMLA status. I screened applications of employment, which
included creating the PERS 40 Form and certification for hire. I utilized the SABHRS system for updating
changes in pay. I managed incoming calls
to the department. I reformatted various
files including workers’ compensation data, recruitment files, and safety
training records. I created "Years
of Service" awards for all supervisors in the department. I was responsible for purchasing all office
supplies. I also did various clerical
duties such as filing and data entry.

I assumed both safety and personnel
responsibilities for 130 employees in two locations. I performed both MSHA and
OSHA trainings, and all recordkeeping duties to meet regulation requirements. I
lead an accident review team and safety committee team. I performed plant and quarry inspections. I was responsible for the administration of
the random drug-testing program. I
worked closely with employees, the Laborers' Union and Teamsters' Union on
personnel issues, including the grievance process. I posted all job openings,
screened applications, interviewed job candidates, checked references, extended
job offers, and ensured the pre-employment drug tests and physicals were
administered. I distributed all reprimands.
I was responsible for policy development, administration and
enforcement, FMLA, ADA, and FLSA. Any
policy changes were negotiated with the unions and addressed in our collective
bargaining agreement. I also managed the
workers' compensation claims and short/long term disability programs.
