BUSINESS EXPERIENCE:
Member of Technical Staff III, VoIP Engineering 4/07 –
Current
Member of Technical Staff III, Production
Engineering/Network Systems Integration 8/06 –4/07
Megapath (was Covad Communications before 9-2010
merger)
A recent project was to document the R17 Broadsoft installation process
and configuration post-installation to account for the Megapath customization
for any new switch introduced into the network going forward. I’m also working on documenting a post
installation test plan to validate the base functionality of the New R17 node
in production prior to having the custom provisioning code pointed at it. In addition to this, we are working towards
the platform upgrade to R17SP4 to add conferencing using the inhouse Broadsoft
developed conferencing on the AS server.
Also I was tasked to work on a pilot project for VOIP Voice recording
for voip traffic using the Acme ISR Voice Recorder solution which is in process
of integrating with the Broadsoft switch for a more tightly coupled integration
once that work has been completed between our two vendors, Broadsoft and Acme.
After the merger closed, I was tasked with merging the three companies
voip networks so that the Speakeasy and Megapath switches would be moved over
to interface directly with the Covad Broadsoft NS cluster to take advantage of
our Class 4 routing and LCR solution.
I completed this within 3 months of the merger completion and the
production voip networks are all now merged to take advantage of the core NS
cluster and LCR solution using our qualified PSTN peers. In another project, I worked on an
Autoattendant migration process to move Autoattendants from our legacy
IPunity/Movius and Centigram voicemail systems to our new Iperia VMail
platform. Another of my prior projects
required that I upgrade all of the Sylantro switches from release 3.2.1 to
release 4.1.1. That was accomplished in 2008-2009. We have 5 of these switches in the network
and it took about 6 months to upgrade all the platforms successfully. The strategy I determined to utilize was to
execute dry-runs on lab hardware using production databases, restored from
backups, to allow rough timing expectations to be determined. This also allowed
for any potential issues that might come up during the production database
upgrades to be located and dealt with proactively, prior to the “Live” upgrades
being performed in production.
As a member of the technical staff for VoIP Engineering I’d been tasked
with helping design and implement a SIP Trunking (SIP trunks to IPPBX’s)
solution which will allow Covad to offer SIP Trunks for termination to Legacy
and IPPBX’s at Customer sites. This
project involves the setup of Acme VSBC’s for static CAC, the Broadsoft Network
Server for Routing redirection to the multiple Sylantro Softswitches as well as
for termination to the PSTN thru MGW’s and SIP Peers (also passed thru the Acme
as SIP Peer VSBC’s). The effort also
required interop efforts on the selected IPPBX’s from Product Management which
included the following Vendors Adtran, Epygi, Cisco, Talkswitch, Vertical and
others that are still being qualified by product management.
