PROFILE: While
my primary responsibility in recent years has been as a Systems Administrator
and informal Project Manager in Real Time Systems, the majority of my education
and real-world work experience is in the field of software/application development. I have primarily worked with Visual Basic 6,
COM+, C#, ASP.Net, HTML, JavaScript, SQL Server, Oracle and some J2EE. In recent months, I have worked on various
self-training projects using O’reilly learning materials regarding ASP.Net/C#
4.0, Visual Studio 2010, AJAX, JQuery, LINQ, server-side and client-side
Javascript, XML, JSON, CSS, MVC, etc.
As
an IBM contractor and former Nisource employee, I provided Nisource with approximately
10 years of service with regards to application development, administration and
production support in the areas of Work Management and Real Time Systems. My support of the various IBM/Nisource
applications has allowed Nisource operational personnel (field & office) to
work safely, efficiently and effectively.
In
addition to the aforementioned responsibilities, working in Application
Support, I have coordinated with other domestic and international teams within
IBM such as Intel Server Operations, Network Services, Security Administration,
Lotus Notes Groupware, etc. I have also
coordinated with external software vendors and internal business units for our
client, Nisource. Working in Real Time Systems
has provided continual education and experience, as each project, enhancement/configuration
request or support issue is a unique situation.

EXPERIENCE: Client:
City Holding Company, Cross Lanes,

Title:
MIS Programmer (Data Processing Department)
Aug
2011 – Nov 2011 (three-month contract)
I
recently completed work on a three-month contract as a Fenwick Technologies (IT
staffing firm) employee, with City Holding Company as the client. The majority of my work consisted of data
processing (invoices), SQL data mining, Crystal Report development, and some
ASP.Net/C# 4.0/Visual Studio 2011 development utilizing various financial
databases (primarily SQL Server 2000/2005).
During
my time on the City Holding contract, I worked on various side-projects and
self-training using O’reilly training materials regarding ASP.Net/C# 4.0,
Visual Studio 2010, AJAX, JQuery, LINQ, server-side and client-side Javascript,
XML, JSON, CSS, etc.
IBM
Global Services – Real Time Systems Application Support, Charleston ,

Title:
IT Specialist
July
2005 – July 2011
My
responsibilities included providing application administration, project
management and production support for the following real-time systems: IRTH
One-Call (“Call Before You Dig”), ProcessNet and an in-house intranet web
application called Field Measurement Technicians (FMT).
ProcessNet
is a vendor-purchased web application that allows for creation of dynamic,
graphical screens allowing Nisource operational personnel to see real-time data
and equipment statuses via the company’s intranet. It also provides the ability to create ad-hoc
trends based on the real-time data fields, and features email and cell-phone alarm
capabilities to warn field personnel of equipment or data issues.
IRTH
One-Call is a vendor-purchased thick client / server application that allows Nisource Monitoring Center
personnel to process “Call Before You Dig” requests. These requests are submitted via email “electronic
tickets” whenever a state’s “One-Call
Center ” informs a utility
company that digging is about to be performed. Processing of these external requests prevents
public safety incidents and also prevents disruption of gas service. The application presents technical
challenges,
as there are many potential points of failure (network infrastructure, email
servers & accounts, dial-up modem issues, automated fax issues, automated
voice response issues, database servers, communication coordination servers,
application servers, etc). The database
is SQL Server 2005.
The
Field Measurement Technicians web site is a custom, in-house application that
allows technicians to run custom reports for their “gas measurement” work
assignments, and view the data history of their assigned equipment and
tasks. It was built using HTML, ASP,
VBScript and Javascript. It queries data
from an Oracle database.

Title:
Programmer / Analyst
June 2001 – July 2005
My responsibilities included developing C#
and ASP.NET web applications, developing Win32 server-side COM+ components in
VB6, data scrubbing, processing and scripting in SQL Server and Oracle, Crystal
Report development, and creating dynamic, graphical screens with ProcessNet real
time software, creating and maintaining real-time alarms via ProcessNet’s
NetEvent application, and providing production support and administration for
the IRTH 3.7 “One-Call” system.
Nisource development projects:
Close Interval Survey Prioritization (CISP):
Nisource
performs Close Interval Survey inspections of the gas pipeline for corrosion,
and the Nisource Corrosion Prevention team needed a web-based application to
allow them to enter various data and prioritize their list of inspections. I was solely responsible for analysis,
design, development and testing of this C# and ASP.NET web application with an
Oracle relational database.
Maximo Work Order Maintenance (.NET add-on
Maximo Utility):
Nisource
utilized a vendor application known as Maximo (version 4.2 at the time) as a
large part of their Work Management processes.
Work Management IT found itself performing a lot of manual data
scrubbing and manual configurations to help the Nisource WM team prevent
process issues and problems. It was
determined that the best course of action was to develop our own supplemental
applications (add-on’s or utilities) to automate various Maximo data-related
tasks. The most significant of these
so-called Maximo Utilities was the Work Order Maintenance application, which
allowed batch editing and deleting of Maximo Work Orders (WO's). Working under a Project Manager/Business
Analyst, I was responsible for the development (coding/programming) and
internal testing of the application. The application was developed using
Microsoft Visual Studio 2003, ASP.Net, C#,
L, Javascript and Oracle SQL.
Cost Analysis Reporting System (CARS):
Nisource
requested a Cost Analysis Reporting System, which was a major project at the
time. It was a thick-client/server enterprise-wide
distributed application. I came into the
project in the later half of its development, and I provided coding and
internal testing of various client and server-side Visual Basic 6 and COM+
components. The application’s data
source was SQL Server 2000, which was accessed via ADO .
