Designed and implemented enhancements to multi-tier C#/VB.NET, ASP.NET intranet application and SQL Server database/Stored Procedures, to centralize and manage more comprehensively the set of tasks in the workflows for conducting cognitive therapy clinical studies, for documenting treatment of clients, and for training therapists.
The following enhancements were made to the electronic queues of clinical study researchers:
  • Creation of search feature to identify client candidates who matched the required demographic and/or other criteria for a study, from the pool of clients who had signed participation waivers.
  • Enabled the assignment of approved candidates to the different treatment groups required to test the effectiveness of the therapeutic strategies and techniques being investigated in a study.
  • Enhanced the calculation and presentation of data from each stage of a study, including outcome data at the end of a study, based on client responses to psychological tests/questionnaires given at each stage.
  • Controlled access to all institute documents, so for example, only those authorized could update lists of best practices documents, with what was learned in a study, while all staff could read such documents.
The following enhancements were made to the electronic queues of therapists:
  • From the queue, all access to trainee and client data was managed, including allowing access only to those staff authorized for a particular trainee or client.
  • Enabled access to data of any client a therapist was treating or had treated, to record, update or review treatment notes.  Client data could be accessed directly or from a list of all the therapist’s clients.
  • A supervising therapist could access the data of any therapist he/she was training, including any client’s data in those trainees’ case loads, in order to manage a treatment plan, or rate a trainee’s performance.

Designed enhancements and implemented repairs to the 3-tier VB .NET/ASP .NET web application that supported all DEP web applications.  Tasks accomplished included:
  • Enhanced the VB .NET data tier classes, Oracle database Tables and Packages, and VB .NET presentation tier classes, to enable, on a web page, documents created outside a DEP application to be visually associated with, and accessed with documents created inside a DEP application.
  • Enhancement of the validation engine to enable it to distinguish between incoming decimal numbers and dates, in order to correctly implement business rules requiring data comparisons, by overloading methods.
 
Enhanced  and made repairs to DEP’s Air Quality Source Registration System, a  web application used by manufacturing-based businesses and utility companies to electronically file their environmental waste and emission statements as required by state law.
Applied skills to coding the following application components:
  • XML objects that enabled VB .NET classes to drive presentation of data in PDF Web Forms, enforcement of business rules, and access to the Oracle data store.
  • Oracle PL/SQL Stored Procedures and Packages to implement data access and business rules.
  • JavaScript functions to implement presentation and business rules.

Utilized these skills to accomplish the following tasks:
  • Designed and coded a solution that implemented a business requirement for a higher level of consistency and accuracy in the reporting of fuel type data.
  • Identified flaws in logical design and coded the solution to the problem of retrieving and presenting sets of calculated fuel utilization data in the same order that they were entered and stored on the database.
  • Analyzed and coded solutions to problems of cross validation of data entered across multiple web pages.

  • Designed, coded, and debugged an application to assist editors in tracking development of content for upcoming issues through proposal, approval, in-progress, submission and edited/completion stages.  Items tracked included articles, advertisements, and reader content submitted from the internet web site.
  • Developed and implemented an application to assist account representatives in processing new and existing advertising accounts.  Application enabled representatives to do the following:
    • Display and search information from prospective new accounts submitted from internet web site, and then reserve accounts for follow-up.  Application apportioned prospects among reps.
    • Open a new, or update an existing account, when a new ad had been sold.
    • Display and search account history of current/past advertisers.
  • Designed, coded, and debugged an application to randomly select multiple winners from entries of internet promotions.  Results displayed online, and stored and retrieved for later viewing by application.
  • Enhanced data entry function on intranet, so that a new vendor could be added once and listed under multiple vendor categories on the internet web site.
  • Enhanced web site functionality, so that a bride-to-be could complete an online form to send eMail referrals to selected advertisers of the magazine, who offered products and services she still needed, to complete planning for the wedding.  A log file and statistics file were used to track activity for this function.

Designed architecture for, coded, and debugged an intranet-based project management and tracking system that increased efficiency of management and staff collaboration tasks, through all stages of System Development Life Cycle.  Design and enhancements done after meeting repeatedly with staff.  Developed with following techniques:
  • Coded in VB .NET and JavaScript, using ASP .NET pages, user controls for application headers on all pages including links to related pages and help files, and controls such as DataGrid, Repeater, Calendar, and CustomValidator to present, accept, and validate data.
  • Designed code placing data access logic in class library apart from presentation and business rule tiers.
  • Designed and implemented a SQL Server database and coded Stored Procedures to enable data access.
  • Created user interface to process XML files, using ADO .NET DataSets, to update and extract staff data stored in database tables, and coded XSL StyleSheets to present that data in SpreadSheets and in HTML.
Application increased efficiency of management of, and staff collaboration on, tasks by providing these features:
  • Enabled system managers to use search/sort criteria in order to dynamically create the view(s) of project data they needed to monitor staff performance and make informed decisions on resource allocation.
  • Enabled system managers firstly to add projects, then select a desirable project manager by reviewing all managers’ previous performance on projects with similar budgets and by viewing managers’ current work load, and finally to route project to the selected project manager’s electronic work queue.
  • Enabled project managers to track all assigned projects, to know when a project was ready for next stage of development, and then assign and route work to a selected staff person’s electronic work queue.
  • Enabled staff, from their electronic work queues, to store, retrieve and sign-out all project documents, and to report progress and completion of each stage of development to project managers.
