Degree Projects:

1.    Determination of stress concentration factor by finite element analysis
     Project Description:

Any discontinuity in a machine part alters the stress distribution in the neighborhood of the discontinuity so that the elementary stress equations no longer describe the state of stress in the part. The region in which the stress raiser occurs is the area of stress concentration.

The discretation work makes an investigation on stress concentration factor of shafts and bars with grooves and fillets, using finite element method ANSYS 5.4. And these stress concentration factor values are compared with corresponding SCF values given in design data books.

2.    Design and Analysis of Bevel Gear Box Casing (M.Tech):

Project Description:
            Analysis of gear box casing is an important field of study in machine design. Due to the transmission of loads like radial, axial and tangential between the mating gears, the casing will be subjected to stresses and deformations.

            In the present project, a bevel gear box casing is considered. The first stage involves the designing of bevel gear and pinion, shaft, bearings and casing bu using modeling software CATIA. The gear box casing will be analyzed in static and dynamic condition to find the deformation, freqvencys, and the stresses acting on it buy using finite element analysis software ANSYS. The second stage involves reduction in deformation of the casing by varying its thickness.
