Projects
done in Kanbay:
Release: May 2006
Project Name: Upgrade Downgrade
Technology used: Cobol, JCL, CICS,
DB2, MVS, Vision Plus
Components involved: Cobol-DB2 Batch
programs, Cobol-DB2 Online Programs and Jobs
My role: Developer and Tester
Status: To be in
Production in May 2006
Overview:
This
project basically deals with converting, formatting and migrating the existing
memos in the new memo format in the DB2 tables. In the current system memos are
written in DB2 tables, Sybase and VSAM files. With this project all memos will
be migrated to the new format of the DB2 tables.
For
example, Toolbars that writes some of its memos in the Sybase tables, will now
make a call to data access programs which will insert the requested memo in the
memo DB2 tables. Also all existing Sybase memos will be converted and migrated
to the DB2 tables and Sybase will be retired after implementation of this
project.
All
memos, Online as well as Batch will be affected in this project.
Memos
can be searched based on two fields, either on the date range in which the
memos were written or on the Memo Names.
A
list of all rejected memos will be written to a file which will be read by all
the application teams. The memos fed through batch that have invalid Function
Type will be rejected and a daily report will be generated having all rejected
memos. This report will have all source system names and the first five memos
for each source system that were rejected.
After
the application teams correct the memos, these memos will be loaded into the
DB2 tables thru a batch process.
Archival: Memos will be copied to offline media and
deleted from the DB2 table.
Purge:
Memos will be dropped from offline media
After
the memos are archived, a new batch process will copy these memos from into
flat files. The archived memos will NOT be written into DB2 tables.
Release: February 2006
Project Name: Upgrade Downgrade
Technology used: Cobol, JCL, CICS,
DB2, MVS, Vision Plus
Components involved: Cobol Online
programs, Jobs and Cobol-DB2 Online Programs
My role: Developer and Tester
Status: in Production
Overview:
The
objective of this project is to replace the manual upgrade/downgrade process in
place today with a systemic solution that will increase efficiencies and
eliminate errors. New functionality will provide representative an option to
upgrade or downgrade customer systemically using the Toolbar Icon. The major
functionality change would be.
1. Owning Branch/PCT change. Owning Branch
will also change as the account upgrades or downgrades.
2. Association-to-Association
Upgrade/Downgrade. Upgrade/Downgrade of card across the association will now be
possible.
3. Different Legal entities: Prime and
HBUS. Product transfers should be controlled to their respective owning bank;
therefore we need to have a filter in the upgrade/downgrade process that takes
the owning branch into consideration.
Following
were the requirements for this project:
1) Change PCT Override (Pricing Control or
Intro PCT or Promotional PCT) with its Expiration Date, PCT (State of Issuance
or Go-to PCT) and Owning Branch on the Upgraded/ Downgraded (Transfer-to or
New) account systemically.
2) Upgrade/Downgrade a MasterCard account
to Visa (and Vice Versa).
3) Control/Filter Upgrade/Downgrade
process at Owning Branch level.
4) Store STAG numbers in BIN_NUMBER table.
Release: February 2006
Project Name: Best Buy
Technology used: Cobol, CICS, MVS,
Vision Plus
Components involved: Cobol Online
programs
My role: Developer and Tester
Status: in Production
Overview:
The
requirement for Data Access is to support the use of temporary account numbers
in lieu of permanent numbers for “Apply then Buy” as well as permanent account
number through “Direct Mail” options, allowing the rollout of the “Reward Zone”
MasterCard Co-Brand offering for the Best Buy Corporation.
Temporary
account numbers (Plastic) will be given to Best Buy customers as they apply and
are accepted for co-branded MasterCards, at the store itself. This card number will be valid for in-store
purchases only for a period of fourteen days after the initial purchase. It will have a unique BIN# 528633 associated
with it, allowing us to identify any number as a “temporary number”. Using this, we will then know to query CMS’
HRXH cross-reference file to obtain the permanent number, and pass that to the
calling front-end systems. If not there,
we will of course return the standard “account not found” message.
Our
requirements are to determine on the initial call to Data Access (via theGAI
view – General account inquiry and other views comes in initial bundle request)
whether or not the number in question is a temporary number based on BIN. If it is, we will query the HRXH
cross-reference file to obtain the permanent number associated with the temp
number, move the temp number to a new GAI field which will hold this, and move
the permanent number found into the account field on the GAI where we were
passed the temp.
All
future calls from that point to Data Access should be based on the permanent
account number returned. Additionally,
queries to TRAMS are based on reference number, not account number, so TRAMS
entries on the temporary account number will be returned for the permanent
account.
Release: November 2005
Project Name: Performance based
Pricing
Technology used: Cobol, JCL, CICS,
DB2, MVS, Vision Plus
Components involved: Cobol Online
programs and Cobol-DB2 Online Programs
My role: Developer and
Tester
Status: in Production
Overview:
The
objective of the TRIAD Performance Based Pricing Project is to migrate the
following existing processes to TRIAD Performance Based Pricing (PBP)
module.
1. Risk Based Reprice (RBR)
2. Trigger
Pricing Initiative (TPI)
3. Punitive Pricing
Data
Access will need to play a support role to ensure the creation of DB2 memos
(and support for testing) for these TRIAD decisions is captured/displayed
correctly, and retained for the length of time specified, which as of now is
indefinitely, or for the life of the account.
Additionally,
there exists a need to notify/be notified by TRIAD in the event of any pricing
plan changes. We need to avoid making
plan changes through CRSI/Sales Engine if a customer has been recently changed
by TRIAD, and vice versa.
Product
type code 2 offers (reprices) should be excluded if the account has been
impacted by a TRIAD upward or downward pricing change. This information will appear on new fields
added to the AMBS file, and any changes within the last six months will prevent
a new offer from being given.
Conversely, we will need to update these fields on the AMBS at the time
an offer is repriced through CRSI/SE, giving TRIAD the reprice and date on the
AMBS also, with a similar period (still to be determined) for exclusion from
the TRIAD side.
