Description:
This project
is to create the Model of Shell to see actual component before its manufacture.
Accordingly various tools (Such as Mandrels, Moulds) required in actual manufacture
are Part Designed and Assembled. By using Generative Drafting Part Design and
Assembly Design files are exported to form 2D drawings and these drawings can
be released for production purpose. We had taken outmost care to design hollow
mandrels for bigger size shells to avoid self-bending of mandrel while winding.
For Complex inner profile of shells collapsible mandrels are designed which
accomplishes easy removal of shell from the mandrel. The central part of
collapsible mandrel is core shaft. For large Size Shells (i.e. 1 meter diameter
and 5 meters length) sand discs are mounted on the Core shaft is used as
mandrel, in which the sand can be washed out using hot jet water after the
formation of casing.

HANDLED GIVEN IN DETAIL:
Project Name: FRP Shells (or) Casings
(or) Tubes
Description:
FRP
Shells deals with the manufacture of Shells using e-glass fiber roving (this
roving is made of glass fiber) and resins. In this project customer provides us
the information about the shell. According to the inner profile of the shell
the outer profile of the solid mandrel is designed and we take outmost care to
provide a taper along the length of the mandrel for easy removal of Shell from
the mandrel. We had taken outmost care to design hollow mandrels for bigger
size shells to avoid self-bending of mandrel while winding. For Complex inner
profile of shells collapsible mandrels are designed which accomplishes easy

Project Name: FRP Containers
Description:
FRP Container deals with the
manufacture of container using Surface Mats (this Surface Mat is made of glass
fiber) and resin. For manufacturing FRP Containers customer provides us the
information about the actual component, which has to be placed in the
container. According to the outer profile of the component the outer profile of
wooden pattern is designed and we take outmost care to provide draft angle to
the pattern, so that it becomes easy to remove lid or bottom container from the
pattern. According to the outer profile of the component we design the
container, so that component doesn’t get damaged while transporting from one
place to another place. We had even designed the container in such a way that
there is no leakage of water into the container when the container is kept in
the water. For the waterproof, a rubber sealing is provided between the lid and
bottom box. We had even designed (specially of FRP Container) Latch to fasten
the lid to the bottom box. We had provided fool proofing method so that the
boxes can be placed one over the other while stacking. We had even provided
valves at the middle of the bottom container lengthwise for internal Pressure Testing of the
container.
Project Name: Scaffolding boards
Description:
Scaffolding boards
are used for stage preparation in Shipyards. Over this stage the scaffolder
stands and works (i.e. painting, manufacturing, repairing etc) of the ships.
This Project deals with manufacture of Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP)
Scaffolding boards. While designing Scaffolding boards we had taken outmost
care because the cross-section of board is design in such a manner that the
five boards can be placed at time one beside the other so that it will be
spacious for scaffolder.
According to the scaffolding board,
we had designed the split type of mould. The inlet nipple is provided at the
center of the mould and outlet nipples are provided at on either side of upper
mould.
Project Name: Polar boss Encapsulation
Moulds
Description:
This Projects
deals with fabrication of Polar boss material made of steel and encapsulation
of outer surface of the polar boss with rubber. As this Polar boss is attached
to the core shaft of the mandrel the outer dome profile should be perfectly
match with the customer requirement. To obtain the coordinate of contour we had
written program to get the outer profile. And we designed the polar boss with
outmost care not deviating the customer requirement.
To encapsulate the Polar Boss with
rubber we had designed a mould, providing heating facility by using platen
heating for smaller moulds and cartridge heating for bigger moulds. In case of
cartridge heating, the number of heater depends upon the weight of the mould;
the heaters are provided in such way that there is uniform heating of mould is
obtained.
Project Name: Oven Trolley
Description:
Oven
Trolley is used to carry the FRP Shells from filament winding machine to oven
where the curing of the shell is done. This design we had done for our internal
purpose i.e. to use in our shop floor. According to our process requirement we
had efficiently designed the Oven Trolley. Oven trolley we designed is made
c-section beams, I- section beams, plates, reduction motors, gears, bearings,
roller, wheels, spacers, shafts, circlips etc.
