Title:
Thermal stress analysis of gas-turbine shaft assembly
subjected to high centrifugal force.
Undertaken at:
Triveni Engineers, Bangalore.
Tool Used:
ANSYS
Duration:
3 months
Overview:
The investigation is carried out
using Finite Elemental Methods.
Our study involved both structural and thermal analysis of shaft and hub
assembly called as Coupled Field Analysis (CFA) and has been conducted
taking various parameters into consideration. The optimum speed and
temperature at which the shrink fit assembly loosens the contact is found and
the geometry of shaft-hub assembly is optimized.

Title:
Thermal
stress analysis of a double acting, reciprocating air compressor cylinder.
Undertaken at:
Ingersoll-Rand,
Bangalore.
Tool Used:
ANSYS
Duration:
3 months
Overview:
Our study involved both thermal and
structural analysis together on the given cylinder (one-eighth of the model)
which is solved through Coupled field
analysis. It is conducted applying appropriate boundary conditions such
as symmetric boundary conditions, fixed boundary conditions etc. We
investigated the stability of the air compressor cylinder for maximum
stresses induced at different rated delivery pressure.
