Project Purpose: Accessing
of files can be done even though the CAOS system is in OFF State. Deletions and updating of
file can be done automatically
Project Scope: It focused on data backup,
in order to assure the availability and safety of user’s information and
allowing its recovery.
Project Description:
Collaborative
Approach for Open Storage (CAOS) is a system based on a
peer-to-peer distribution focused on data backup, In order to assure the
availability and safety of user’s information and allowing its recovery. When CAOS is activated, it should search for
other machines with CAOS running on
them in the same network and create a database with all the IP addresses of
CAOS activated machines.
In
a CAOS machine a shared memory
region (SMR) will be created so that the files stored in SMR will be visible
for machines, which are connecting to the machine in peers. At once a file is
created and given permission to be accessed some specified in the network, the
file permissions will be registered in a database and also the file will be
carried into the permitted machines without the knowledge of the user of that
machine.
When
a machine is switched off or not accessible at the time of deletion or updating
a file it should be kept in a separate database so when that machine gets
activated it should be deleted/updated.
