developed, maintained and documented large database applications for a
VAX/VMS-cluster environment. These
applications accessed/maintained operational databases using FORTRAN, C and
INGRES and included the following:
§ Data Storage and Retrieval System was an
optical disk archiving system that extracted information from incoming
telemetry files, archived the files to optical disk, and then allowed users
to retrieve archived files based on the previously extracted data.
§ Command Sequence Management System was a
spacecraft command sequence development, configuration control, and reporting
system.
§ Command Message Verification generated
products used to verify spacecraft command loads before they were uplinked.
§ System Performance Evaluation Tool was a software package
that introduced errors into product data to test the system’s ability to
compensate for and/or remove the errors.
All software products were fully integrated into the VAX/VMS
environment utilizing a majority of the available system services and
features. My group was responsible for
all software life cycle phases.

§ Computed spacecraft attitude as a
function of time for both a nominally defined attitude and off-nominal
maneuvers.
§ Computed spacecraft appendage pointing as
a function of time.
§ Computed mass properties of a spacecraft
with hinged appendages and varying propellant weight.
Software development included the derivation
of complex mathematical algorithms which dealt with quaternions, vector
mechanics, orbital mechanics, differential calculus, and the manipulation of
normalized polynomials; and the generation of applicable documentation.
