·         International Assignment (Mar 2007 – Nov 2011): Qatar Gas II, Common Sulfur Project – Construction Site, Ras Laffan, Qatar. Field Engineering and Lead Mechanical Engineer. Forecast and manage field mechanical engineering activities. Manage, supervise and generate material requisitions for purchase and /or fabrication of replacement materials lost during the course of construction and pre-commissioning, for replacement of wrongly fabricated structural parts and for the supply of parts not delivered to site for Conveyors, Granulators, Stacker/Reclaimers and Shiploaders. Manage and supervise the preparation and issuance of the Site Instruction to complete construction and pre-commissioning work. Plan, schedule and lead engineers including coordination with QA/QC to complete assembly and pre-commissioning of the Stacker/Reclaimers. Supervise and coordinate on-site review of equipment vendor drawings. Interface with construction, client, vendor site representative and engineers to support erection and assembly of sulfur granulators, and belt conveyors.

·         International Assignment (2006): Qatar Gas II, Common Sulfur Project, Bucharest Romania. Supervise review and processing of vendor drawings related to sulfur granulation plant, in plant conveyor system, stacker/reclaimers and ship loader. Interface with vendor, client and engineers to expedite resolution of issues to support vendor equipment fabrication and delivery schedule. Mentor local Romanian engineers.

·         Qatar Gas II, Common Sulfur Project. Responsible for the preparation of equipment requisition package to obtain firm pricing for project estimates. Perform technical bids evaluation. Equipment involves belt conveyors rated at 3600 tons per hour; sulfur solidification system, each rated for 50 tons per hour, and other related utilities equipment such as package electric steam boiler, electric water heater, pumps and air compressors.

·         TCE (trichloroethylene) Recovery Facility for confidential Midwestern client. Processes involved multiple coating of fibrous raw materials.  Preparation and technical evaluation of TCE systems specifications. Checked equipment arrangement drawings. Checked vendor drawings. Coordinated mechanical design activities with other disciplines and client’s engineer.


·         Anheuser-Busch, Packaging Modernization Project, Fairfield, CO.  Lead Mechanical Engineer responsible for supervising and directing engineers in the preparation of equipment layout for the new high-speed bottle line and can line filling and packaging. The new filling lines are rated at 1600 bottles/cans per minute. Prepared demolition drawings of the existing beer filling and packaging lines. Reviewed equipment vendor drawings. Coordinated mechanical design activities with other disciplines and client’s engineers.

·         Westinghouse Savannah River Company, Radioactive Waste Treatment Unit: Prepared specifications for rotating equipment and other related radioactive waste processing equipment.

·         McLarens Toplis, North America, Inc:  Supervised damage assessment of pickle line and tandem mill mechanical equipment and piping at the U.S. Steel-POSCO facilities in Pittsburg, CA.  Equipment included a five-stand, six-roll-high cold mill, deflector units, steering units, bridle unit, shapemeter unit, flying shear, product coil carrousel/tension reel, walking beam conveyors, inspection reels, coil bander, and material handling equipment.  Piping includes services in hydraulic, pneumatic, hydrostatic, lubrication, valve manifolds, roll coolant system and fire protection system. Contributed to the preparation of fire damage assessment report and reconstruction estimate. Monitored progress of re-building the plant. Reviewed labor and materials invoices. Coordinated mechanical/piping activities with other disciplines, equipment fabricators and owner’s staff.  Supervised discipline engineers and designers.

·         PPG Industries, Dry Air System, New Martinsville, WV: Coordinated mechanical equipment, including stand-by diesel generator, with plant layout and specifications. Checked equipment vendor drawings.  Specified dry air system equipment, including packaged air-cooled compressor, heat exchangers, dryers, air receiver, oil/water separator and filters. Designed ductwork to utilize heat generated by air compressor to heat the compressor building in the winter.

·         Corning, Photonic Materials Facility, Erwin, NY:  Lead mechanical engineer responsible for supervising the preparation of design basis for heating, cooling, humidification, fire protection, and utilities piping for manufacturing and office buildings. Prepared equipment layout.  Coordinated mechanical design activities with other disciplines.

·         Clearon Corp., TCCA (trichloroisocyanuric acid), South Charleston, WV: Evaluated three existing pneumatic conveying systems. Coordinated activities with other disciplines, equipment vendor and client’s staff.  Prepared calculations for conveying systems and made recommendation. Systems utilized negative pressure conveying and stream equipment including filters, air heaters, cage mill, flash dryer, baghouses, and blowers.


·         Ford Motor, Engine Plant #2 Chilled Water System, Cleveland, OH:  Prepared specifications for thermal storage tanks, chillers, pumps, air compressors, and air dryers.

·         Corning Asahi Video Products, Cullet Handling System, State College, PA: Developed conceptual design for an automated hot-end cullet handling and recovery system. Hot-glass rejected from video funnel production and molten glass and gobs from furnace are collected, quenched, crushed, and transported to a storage silo for re-use. Equipment includes belt conveyors, bucket elevators, crushers, cooling conveyors, magnetic separators, and dust collection system.

·         Dow Corning, Silicon Rubber Production Expansion, Midland, MI:  Prepared specifications for process equipment specifications.  Process equipment included tanks, columns, pressure vessel, reactors, mixers and heat exchangers. Reviewed equipment arrangement and fabrication drawings. Coordinated activities with other disciplines and plant engineers. Checked equipment vendor drawings.

·         Grassroot Battery Manufacturing Facility, confidential Midwestern client: Manufacturing processes involved raw materials handling, weighing, mixing and forming.  Equipment included bag dump stations, supersack unloading, belt conveyors and bucket elevators, loss and weight feeders, compactors and screener. ·         Polycrystalline Silicon Manufacturing facility for a confidential client in MI:  Lead mechanical engineer responsible for supervising, directing and checking the preparation of specifications for process equipment in reactor area, distillation area and compressor area. Equipment includes reactors, columns, pressure vessels, tanks, heat exchangers, air-cooled condensers, pumps, filters, process compressors, air compressors and air dryers and material handling equipment.  

·         PVC Plant for Pequiven, Venezuela. Member of the Geon/URS Team:  Responsible for the development of a technology package and cost estimate. Responsible for supervising, directing and checking the preparation of equipment arrangement drawings and equipment specifications in resin drying area and packaging, warehousing and shipping area, and process area. Equipment includes pneumatic conveying systems, dryer system, centrifuges, silos, screens, dust collectors and bagging systems in resin drying building, and reactor, heat exchangers, tanks and pressure vessels, agitators and refrigeration system in additives and catalyst area, and reactor area.

·         Batch Polymer Manufacturing Plant for Du Pont, Old Hickory, TN: Contribute to the development of scope of work, design basis documents and cost estimate. Plan, organize, direct and control discipline activities. Communicate/coordinate mechanical activities with other disciplines, department, client’s engineers and plant engineers. Perform equipment technical bid evaluation and make recommendation. Coordinate equipment purchasing activities with Procurement Department. Check and process vendor drawings. Equipment involves are tanks, mixers, filters and pump in the catalyst and additive area, reactors, autoclave, heat exchangers, tanks and pressure vessels, pelletizer and pellets dryer in the polymerization area, pneumatic conveying system equipment and silos.

·         Titanium Dioxide Plants for DuPont at Delisle, MS and in Taiwan. Responsible for supervising, directing and finalizing mechanical arrangement drawings in filtration building, drying and packaging building, coke and ore building prepared during the preliminary engineering effort. Designed mechanical system in cementation building. Reviewed design of pneumatic material handling system and recommended alternate system for cost savings.

Communicate/coordinate with other disciplines. Generate plant fabrication drawings. 




·         Union Carbide Coal Calcining Plant, Niagara Falls, NY. Responsible for the preparation of mechanical layout, construction drawings, and fabrication drawings for equipment interconnecting chutes and spouting.
