HealthCare Inc. (2006 – Present)

Analyze
the evolving requirements of research groups within the organization and design
integrated computing infrastructure to meet them.

Responsible
for growing and managing the fiber channel SAN. Starting with 1 HP EVA array
and 2 switches, over the course of three years expanded to two Cisco 9506
directors, 10 Cisco 9124 blade switches, 3 EVA and 4 HP MSA arrays. Performed
installation, configuration, provisioning of storage and connectivity,
performance management and problem investigation and resolution.

Designed,
implemented and supported an 80+ node high-performance Linux computing cluster,
including installing and managing a cluster of HP Polyserve NFS file servers
providing high-speed data storage.
·
Defined
the strategy, architecture and design of an internal petabyte-scale storage
service based on low-cost, dense commodity storage and the open-source Gluster
network filesystem. The current
implementation of the service provides .5PB of total capacity for 50+ customers
using Sun X4500 servers running Solaris and ZFS.
·
Completed
two projects implementing HP IBrix based file storage platforms, a 20TB x9640
and a 400TB x9700.
·
Designed
and implemented an internal cloud service using HP blade servers, shared HP EVA
storage and VMWare ESX with HA and DRS.
Developed a java component to interface with the VMWare API to automate
virtual machine deployment.

Wrote
a server inventory application to track networking, hardware and support
details for servers and storage. The
application was written in java for deployment in JBoss using EJB3 data
persistence and an Oracle database for object storage.

direct support for servers and storage for the Partners Center for Personalized
Genetic Medicine. Consulted on the infrastructure requirements and data storage
logistics to support next-generation DNA sequencing and other bio-informatics
challenges.

Designed
and implemented a publishing proxy using Linux, Apache and Heartbeat to provide
a highly available and secure gateway to present internal web resources to the
Internet.
