·         As a member of the Aurora OS core team it is my responsibility to help develop the Aurora OS Linux distribution by providing insight, and guidance.

·         Responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of the Jupiter power applet.  Jupiter is designed to simplify portable computing by interfacing with the ACPI event daemon and altering system parameters based on applied power mode.  Additionally, Jupiter exposes quick access controls for commonly used configuration settings.

·         Support users of Aurora OS in the Aurora forum, and provide bug fixes when necessary.

UNIX Design Engineer, Emdeon – Nashville, TN (June 2009 – June 2011)
·         Subject matter expert for Oracle Enterprise Linux, and highest level of escalation for all Linux related technology issues.

·         Standardized, documented, and then automated Oracle Enterprise Linux deployment and configuration processes, delivering a multi-site server deployment solution which reduced the time to deliver fully patched, preconfigured servers from 6 hours to 6 minutes per server.  Standardized configurations are version controlled using subversion.

·         Designed, documented, and then implemented an Active Directory (AD) integration solution utilizing Likewise Open.  All new servers are deployed as AD member servers, domain groups are utilized for access control.  Documented a migration plan for pre-existing servers currently being executed by our offshore support team.

·         Designed configuration management solution utilizing puppet, documented and then implemented the solution.  Servers receive a standard puppet configuration file and automatically configure based on assigned classification.  Configurations are version controlled using subversion.

·         Standardized, automated, and applied formal procedures to the patching process delivering an automated patching engine which aligns with corporate patch management standards.

·         Designed a centralized logging facility using syslog-ng, and then developed and delivered a simple access controlled web interface to the engineering team which is utilized to review relevant system logs.

·         Developed hardening process to align critical infrastructure systems with payment card industry (PCI) requirements.  Received PCI certification post audit.  Automated hardening procedures and integrated them into the Oracle Linux deployment system.

·         Subject Matter Expert for Linux and Windows technologies.  Highest level of escalation for all Linux and Windows technology problems.  Maintain influence over the design and implementation of all IT managed solutions.

·         Operated as IT Technical Lead for many products including Vontu, RedHat and Windows OS Specification and deployment automation, SQL Server Integration Service, Linux Apache MySQL Perl (LAMP), Shipping Solutions, and Factory Automation. 

·         Developed software in Perl to support Linux deployment automation which automates the process of building up-to-date Red Hat YUM software repositories via ISO extraction and integration of patches from Red Hat Network.  Automated quality assurance testing by developing a software product integrated into the operating system installation delivered as an RPM package.  This automation measures server configuration against defined specification on demand outputting in multiple standard formats.

·         Improved availability of services through development of a utility in VB .NET which connects to a host, and after a defined number of retries performs actions defined on the command line.  This tool has been used to build the first geographically dispersed fail over solution for an application that did not support clustering requiring 99.99% availability.  This software is supported on both Windows and Linux servers.

·         Created simple Windows utility in VB Script to automate remote software installation eliminating the manual effort of logging into each server to perform software installation.

·         Documented Windows 2003 server specification, then automated the installation and configuration of Windows Servers through a combination of Altiris and VBScripts reducing deployment time by up to 8 hours per server.

·         Packaged common enterprise desktop software used by Linux Administrators for their Ubuntu desktops. Designed, configured, and deployed repository hosts, caching infrastructure components, and repository management automation.
