Full SDLC using Waterfall methodology.  My initial assignment was to participate in High Level Design (HLD), Low Level Design (LLD) and testing to support changes to the eXtended Account Database (XAD) architecture and implementation of the Debit Card Initiative (DCI).  Was then involved in the high and low level design of the Flexible Product Infrastructure (FPI) initiative which is designed to allow the bank to bring new products to market in a 30-45 day timeframe rather than 6 months to a year.  Participated in data modeling of database architecture and impact analysis on existing systems.  This included Data Flow Diagrams and impact analysis of SLAs(Service Level Agreements).  I was the technical lead for ETL of product information and participated in XML design, storage and presentation of same in the object oriented Java layer.  This ETL was to interface with 8 other systems, among them the data warehouse system.  I designed and prototyped the code necessary to accomplish this for all systems using MicroFocus to eliminate the need for offshore development.  Also utilized MicroFocus to parse Excel spreadsheets to generate specs, COBOL code and metadata.  Worked on DB2 design to modify tables for tuning batch streams to meet Service Level Agreements. Designed and implemented the mainframe side and middleware portion of a large database inquiry and data distribution system for CMS. Full SDLC using Waterfall methodology.  My initial assignment was to participate in High Level Design (HLD), Low Level Design (LLD) and testing to support changes to the eXtended Account Database (XAD) architecture and implementation of the Debit Card Initiative (DCI).  Was then involved in the high and low level design of the Flexible Product Infrastructure (FPI) initiative which is designed to allow the bank to bring new products to market in a 30-45 day timeframe rather than 6 months to a year.  Participated in data modeling of database architecture and impact analysis on existing systems.  This included Data Flow Diagrams and impact analysis of SLAs(Service Level Agreements).  I was the technical lead for ETL of product information and participated in XML design, storage and presentation of same in the object oriented Java layer.  This ETL was to interface with 8 other systems, among them the data warehouse system.  I designed and prototyped the code necessary to accomplish this for all systems using MicroFocus to eliminate the need for offshore development.  Also utilized MicroFocus to parse Excel spreadsheets to generate specs, COBOL code and metadata.  Worked on DB2 design to modify tables for tuning batch streams to meet Service Level Agreements. COBOL, DB2, Changeman, Connect Direct/NDM.  MS Office programs, Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Visio, VBScript, Erwin ERDs.  Entered and executed test plans and test cases in HP Quality Center. My assignment was to set up necessary programs, JCL, Procs, Control members, and scheduling to alert users to needed changes in commissions paid to agents in New Jersey due to commission rule changes.  Created COBOL/DB2 programs using MicroFocus, tested and migrated to production.  Utilized DB2 unloads to speed batch runs.  COBOL, DB2, Endevor, MS Office programs.  Worked through a staffing agency.

Extracted data from an Oracle database to fulfill client and partner requests.  Updated existing programs as required.  Created scripts to streamline repetitive tasks and increase productivity and accuracy.  MicroFocus COBOL on both Windows and Unix platforms.  Was troubleshooter for ETL data conversion problems between mainframe and Oracle.  PL/SQL against Oracle tables on Unix box.  SPFPC editor. Performed code changes and testing of COBOL programs in preparation for a merger of two clients’ systems.  Expansion of an account type field requires numerous code changes as well as some record/file expansion effort.  Utilized MicroFocus COBOL on the PC and ported code to a mainframe running MVS.  Worked through a staffing agency.

Performed analysis and wrote specifications for programmers in India to modify online and batch COBOL programs.  Parsed COBOL code utilizing custom MicroFocus code to generate documentation.  Harcourt (the client) must expand the ISBN publishing number utilized by their CICS and batch COBOL  and DYL280 systems.  Changeman release software.  Generated and maintained metadata repository and Data Flow Diagrams.  Worked as an employee.

Worked in Treasury Services on the CORE/IBIS team.  The Chase On-line REpository (CORE) system provides an information environment capable of supporting the business rules and goals of the Bank. The Integrated Bank Information System (IBIS) is a financial application that gives you the ability to inquire and perform maintenance functions on business processes.  I performed analysis, design, modifications, testing and implementation of CICS and batch COBOL programs and their attendant job streams and DB2 tables.  Prototyped SQL changes with SPUFI and created QMF reports.  Microsoft Office Suite.  Intertest. Worked through a staffing agency.

February 2005 – June 2005, Inova Health System, Fairfax, VA
Worked with the Medipac team.  Medipac is a patient management/patient accounting/medical records system from McKesson.  Work involved modification to in-house programs which interface with the Medipac files, aiding with upgrades to new releases, and monitoring of production and test cycles.  Software included COBOL/CICS/VSAM, Fileaid, Intertest, Xray.  Code manager used is Librarian.  Dispatch was the report manager and FTP was used heavily.  Prototyped applications with MicroFocus. October 2004 – January 2005, Lockheed Martin, Woodlawn, MD
Analyzed and wrote functional requirements, system specifications and validation test cases for the Enumeration At Birth(EAB) and Enumeration At Entry(EAE) systems at the Social Security Administration.  This work was to prepare for a redesign/rewrite of the systems.  Worked through a staffing agency.

March 2004 – October 2004, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, Columbia, MD
Worked in the HIPAA compliance section programming necessary changes to format and edit EDI X12 based Healthcare transactions (type 837) for both institutional and professional subscribers as well as Electronic remittances (type 835).  COBOL/DB2 is utilized for batch processing with IMS checkpointing.  Work involves writing technical specs, writing and testing new code and regression testing against baselines.  Prototyped examples to share with staff using MicroFocus Cobol.  Software includes MicroFocus, Inforeports, Xpeditor, Panvalet, Fileaid, SPUFI, and BMC utilities.  Worked through a staffing agency.

February 2000 – January 2004, SAIC, Columbia, MD & ViPS Inc., Towson, MD
Worked for Politec, a subcontractor on the Data Extraction System (DESY) contract with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Full SDLC. This system scans the National Healthcare Claims History files and extracts data for multiple user requests simultaneously. Designed and implemented the mainframe side and middleware portion of a large database inquiry and data distribution system for CMS. Also participated in the data modeling and object oriented design of the object oriented Java platform and data warehouse.  Used CICS/COBOL/DB2 and SAS on the mainframe, Sybase middleware and a Java front end with intermediate storage on SQL/Server.  Developed data dictionary and utilized data modeling techniques to architect both the metadata and the request driver data.  Developed dynamic SQL and Stored Procedure applications.  Dynamically generated SAS jobs and JCL steps for initial data extraction prior to further filtering.  Achieved significant performance gains by tweaking database access approaches and tuning code.  Designed, defined and maintained DB2 tables necessary for both test and production. Studies in MQ Series in preparation for migration of system to Websphere. Prototyped all development with MicroFocus, then ported to mainframe.  Provided input to promote identification of process areas and key practices for a Capability Maturity Model(CMM). Team lead. Re-architected an international address verification product from Clipper to COBOL II using MicroFocus Workbench.  Responsible for database design, access and compression. Product now available on NT, UNIX, MVS and AS400 platforms. Gross sales of product to date are @$2.5 million. Development platform was MicroFocus COBOL II and Workbench on NT. Data analysis and some code generation done on OS/2 DB2/2 using MicroFocus Workbench. Also used Visual dBase and Microsoft Access. Rewrote COBOL II applications to function smoothly under the Service’s district reorganization. Used VSAM files as parameters to drive programs, rather than maintain multiple redundant sets of JCL. Was responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting and enhancing management reports in each of the seven service centers running the Integrated Collection System. Implemented checkpoint/restart processing in large batch COBOL/DB2 applications.  Modified batch DB2 to speed execution. Prototyped code with MicroFocus.  Worked through a staffing agency.

Wrote, tested and implemented RSPs(Remote Stored Procedures) to parse and fulfill data base requests sent to mainframe CICS/DB2/MVS from PowerBuilder via an MDI gateway. These modules were developed and tested using MicroFocus Workbench and DB2/2 under OS/2, then ported to the mainframe.
