writer and journalist for two local online publications, the Rancho Cordova
Post and the Citrus Heights Herald, I wrote and edited local news and event
articles. I was also responsible for the Education Beat for the Citrus
Heights Herald. A part of my job was to make contacts within the
community and conduct professional interviews with article sources. To
gain a personal perspective for my writing, I put forth the effort to get

As a
Youth Employment Technician in the WorkAbility Department for the San Juan
Unified School District, I assisted high school students with special needs
gain job related experience and helped them to understand the world of
work. I personally made a number of contacts with local employers and
businesses about working with our students during and after school hours.
I was a job coach for students at their assigned worksites when needed,
conducted work related research via the internet, and made personal connections
with local employers involved with the WorkAbility Program. I also
attended teacher-parent Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings for
working high school students, participated in local city Educational Committees
and completed all necessary paperwork associated with the WorkAbility Program.

I had
many responsibilities as an Instructional Assistant for the San Juan Unified
School District at New San Juan High School. I assisted a special
education teacher in a classroom setting by creating lesson plans and providing
work and assignment help to students during class instruction. Grading academic
assignments and entering all scores into the computer database was an
important
responsibility of mine. I managed school day class schedules and Individualized
Education Plans to make sure grade 12 students had all necessary credits for
high school graduation. If there were student difficulties in the classroom, I
mediated between the teacher and parent by making calls and setting up
appropriate meetings. Clerical duties were also a part of my job, such as
photocopying, mailing within the school district, answering phones and keeping students’
personal files organized.

developmental disabilities. I worked with individual adults, or
consumers, with varying disabilities daily on a one-on-one basis providing for

classes, assist with library usage, computer learning, arts and crafts,
reading, and in other educational areas. Personal consumer goals for

are in preparation for the consumer to enter the work force and the community
on a holistic level independently. I wrote daily case notes
on consumers and as a Case Responsible Person, I composed monthly

Duties I performed for Security Pacific
Real Estate consisted of answering client and potential client phone calls,
faxing and receiving offers for real estate agents within the office, filing

advertisements for Security Pacific from newspapers and the internet. I
also had other clerical duties such as photocopying, office filing and keeping

to keep client information organized and updated. I did this by entering
data into the computer and by paper filing. I was involved in the
marketing and promotions for the office, and I documented client auto and
property claims by use of various claims forms. Keeping a professional
and friendly demeanor over the phone and in person was a necessary trait for my
administrative assistant position at Swetland& Associates.
