Word, Power point, MS-project (Gant charts), Adobe Acrobat. Using advance
methods for load calculations including excel based spreadsheets specially
programmed for electrical panel schedules and circuitry. I am a spec writer.
PERSONAL
ACHIEVEMENTS
I am very proficient in Excel. I am the creator (1983) of the Spread Sheet
Panel Schedule program, an application to Excel (and, prior to Bill Gates
creation of Microsoft Windows, an application to Lotus 123 program). It is an
interactive program with links and math formulas keeping track of all
distribution panels on Campus, matching the information from single line (one
line) diagrams. It is used for load information, quick load calculations, quick
access to intimate data from the power panels and distribution boards, plan
check to City Building department, scheduling partial/selective planned power
outages, keeping client informed of current configuration of entire
distribution system from utility POC, through the Distribution Boards, gutters,
taps and splices and panels, all the way to each receptacle, computer, motor or
appliance). I implemented this program at The Aerospace Corporation (TAC)
starting in 1986 and completed it within the first few months from the time I
started to work there. My program captured all campus and leased buildings (approx
25 buildings, counting hundreds of panels and distribution boards) into a
valuable data bank. At Northrop I did the same from 1983 to 1986 (in Lotus 123
since Bill Gates did not invent Microsoft Windows yet). I am willing to share
that expertise at the new job.
EDUCATION:
Post-Graduation 1973 (after 2 years in University) from Poly Technical
Institute included protective devices and transmission lines at the academic
level.
MSEE 1970 (after 5 years in University) from
Poly Technical Institute included all specialties of electrical engineering,
associated material science and business/economics at the academic level.
I was always attracted by practical/business
applications branch of engineering rather than theoretical/academic/university
environment.
Inclination to electronics and electrical
apparatus from early ages (junior high) including practice at my owned home lab
and other extra curriculum technology hobby clubs.
JOB HISTORY:
THE AEROSPACE
CORPORATION: 25 Years, from October 1986 to present time.
AGO Campus major power remodels at all voltage levels:
medium voltage (4160 Volt) and 480/277/208 Volt building systems, generators,
major UPS systems, protections and other improvements.
Generators ranging from the AGO 6000 KVA generator bank,
the bldg C1 500 KVA UPS, the bldg A5 2x240=480 KVA UPS, A5 2000 KVA Generator,
the bldg D8 80 KVA UPS, several 200 and 350 KVA Generators for the A6 labs,
support for launch systems (STARS/DRC) like 2x40 = 80 KVA, and 2x30 = 60 KVA, a
30 KVA generator at Vandenberg, a 40 KVA UPS at Cape Canaveral and later a one
100 KVA generator at the same Cape ERD lab, a 2x40=80 KVA UPS for A6-labs, a 15
KVA UPS for the A2/2055 labs, various modifications to the 480V and 208/120V
distribution systems, specially to eliminate the SPFs (Single Points of
Failure) resulting from my campus risk analysis. From 1997 to 2008 I initiated,
performed the A&E and completed the construction of the multi phase medium
voltage (4160 Volt), approx. $14 million project that replaced the radial/nodal
antiquated distribution system (with cascading SPFs) with a Ring Loop
Distribution system having no SPF. I also re-routed underground cables from
heavy traffic roads (with failing manholes) to lesser traffic routes and
installed modernized manholes at the same time. I finalized the group of
projects with a system of controls and alarms using copper and a command and
control decentralized system using a ring of fiber optic based instruments.
In parallel I had a multitude of projects for ground
support, IT facilities (rack mounted equipment), and working in tandem with
teams providing Network (fiber optics and copper). Various control system
engineering and safety systems for labs. Usage maximization/optimization of
building local life/safety generator to include critical business systems.
Most of my projects ended with me commissioning the
installation by organizing, scheduling, witnessing and approving the major
equipment start-up procedures and bring the system to the maximum specified
guarantee of functionality.
For most projects I was a self starter, from collecting
the entire set of initial ideas, verbal and written, from the client and
transforming them into the reality with turn-key operations and/or plug &
play machinery and installations. Had zero tolerance to any kind of failure in
any level shape or form. Technical failure was never an option to compromise
for.
