Worked as team lead on merger team relating to Wachovia Direct Connection. Participated in converting the tax payment system. Worked on expanding Corporate Balance Database system to cover all states within the new Wachovia organization. Worked to consolidate systems on one LPAR to save money on hardware and licensing fees.
Lead a team of developers by developing task plans and integrating them into a project plan. Wrote book transfer system using Java, UNIX, Oracle and IPLANET. Created scheduler process using Java classes to look for presence of load files and kick off Oracle parser/load scripts. Learned cron command in UNIX to schedule load script to run on server. Created Java programs to load current day revolving credit data to a current day Oracle database. Made changes to revolving credit Java parser programs to correct programs turned up during testing. Wrote UNIX Kornshell scripts to handle parsing of downloaded files via Java programs into load files for UNIX. Used SQL/PLUS and SQL/LOADER to perform the loads to Oracle tables. Researched and designed a process to handle end of day book transfers on server using IPLANET tools to setup servlets. Wrote extract programs to format revolving credit data on the mainframe for downloading to the UNIX server. Learned how to use MQ Series to create a sub-system to take files and load to queues. Wrote MQ Series program to accept parameters and determine MQ functions (connect, open, get, put) to perform the functions.

Client: Credit Business Systems
Served as the project manager on a conversion project to move the client’s systems from a RS/6000 to an AS400. The client’s systems provide a means to create credit reports for customers of textile companies. Responsibilities include analyzing the current RS/6000 systems, creating the conversion plan and assigning/tracking the tasks. Also worked with the client to design a web site that has a tie to applications on the AS400.

Client: Piedmont Natural Gas
Served as a project manager for the Customer Information System. Supervised the effort to eliminate a large backlog of problem reports (500+) for the customer information system. Areas of the company covered by the system included service orders, meter reading, and delinquency reporting. The problem backlog was reduced to less than fifty minor problems. Worked on a cleanup effort for the collections system that helped to identify outstanding debts better. Cleanup files were sent to the credit agencies so that the outstanding debts could be accurately collected. A process was added to this system to create files to send to an outside agency so they could perform automated calling on customers. Completed Y2K remediation on the Materials Management System, the Distributed Crew Management System, the Operations and Analysis System and the Marketing System. The Marketing system had a Visual Basic/Oracle sub-system to track a special marketing incentive.

Served as an on-site manager for CTG consultants. Responsibilities included status visits with consultants and First Union IT managers. Also responsible for handling administrative issues including salary administration and career planning for a group of CTG consultants.

Served as a project manager for the Accounts Payable Re-Engineering project. Interviewed and selected the CTG consultants assigned to this project. Created the project plan and implemented a structured process to takes programs through quality assurance steps before implementation.
Senior Systems Engineer

Added cancel and return capabilities to the EDI application for Cash Management using Sterling Software EDI product.
Worked on the Leadership Information System, an executive information system tool used by First Union managers to assess the performance of their areas. Development involved creating IMS screens to display business performance at a summary and detail level.
Developed the book transfer module for the Cash Management INVISION Product. Created the online interfaces to the Tandem as well as the batch jobs to send the book transfers to EZ, XT and GL systems.
Developed the Funds Transfer sub-system of the Cash Management Electronic Window product used by small businesses to perform funds transfers electronically.
Worked in the Import area to integrate a system on the System 38 for Pier 51
Client: Duke Power
Participated in the rewrite of the Customer Information system using a CASE tool called IEW. Responsible for the data conversion into DB2 tables.
Worked on the Failure and Trending Analysis system to help tracking the possibility of equipment failure. Worked on the Accounts Payable rewrite to convert the system away from the Minerva code to VSAM.
Created the High Bill Analysis program that allowed customers to tell operators about their house and produce an estimate of their monthly electric bill.
Worked on the Material Management rewrite.
