Provided UNIX-based Oracle 10G production
support for a large VZB order status application. System tracks all phases of
internal nationwide orders for servers, hardware, provisioning and billing for each.
Worked with 5-member team investigating and solving 5-10 complex trouble
tickets per day, using knowledge-based SQL DB queries and tracking tools. Used
strong technical and business analyst skills to solve daily production issues
and create solutions.
- Maintained
SQL-based queries to monitor system job performance 24/7 with 5-person
team.
- Managed
weekly executive summary reports form SQL-based queries, and all
enhancements and troubleshooting. Reports tracked revenue and percentage

and tested changes and updates to the Carrier Access System across the Verizon
Telecom East and West footprint. Maintained production software primarily in
COBOL DB2 and JCL-driven procedures.
- Designed and condensed five
separate long-distance programs and procedures into one module. This
reduced future maintenance and testing time by >50%. Completed project
<3 months and ahead of schedule.
- Led
rotational on-call production support for full XEA system after reductions
in personnel required application programmers to take on this rotational
assignment.
- Reduced
the occurrences of nagging abends post-release to 1-2 per week by
analyzing output and implementing coding changes. This reduction resulted
in 50% less callout to production support.
- Took on
additional application production support rotational 24/7 and completed
several releases involving Endevor central support modules: creating GDG
new datasets; ensuring new FTP functionality worked correctly once

carriers to test initial file transmissions before setting up live cuts.

engineer – MITAS Marketing application Bell Atlantic 1994 – 2001
Wrote
new and updated existing batch programs on a SAS-based DB2 Marketing System. System
included extracts from other major NY and New England
billing feeds and calling plan data. Became the SME on billing feeds extract
parsing programs, and lead analyst working with billing changes, attending RAD
meetings, documenting changes and designing solutions to include these new
calling plan changes in existing code and database. Volunteered on a
re-engineering effort to include the NY and NE billing extracts coding with a
totally redesigned data warehouse product. Led team of 4 contractors in this
condensed six month effort and was liaison between team and the new system
design team in Tampa. This was a high stress, huge workload project which
documented estimates of tasks, and delivered all assignments within timeframe
and budget allocated.
