WORK EXPERIENCE:
October, 2011 – Current: Pearl Harbor, HI/San Diego, CA.
September, 2010 – August, 2011: Billings, MT.
Safety Engineer: Responsible for oversight of all employees and subcontractors, performed safety audits, maintained the job site to stay compliant with OSHA safety standards, built a rapport with the workers, created and maintained a filing system, gave new-employee orientations, performed air monitoring, noise monitoring, gave weekly job site safety meetings, resolved safety issues, took corrective action towards unsafe situations, reprimanded and/or removed serious safety violators, attended weekly subcontractor’s meetings and addressed safety issues to the subcontracting supervisors, submitted weekly summaries of daily reports/audits, corresponded with the Safety Bureau/OSHA about any complaints or questions that arose, maintained a presence out in the field 50-75% of the time, kept safety equipment calibrated and updated, inspected fire extinguishers, rigging, ladders and electrical on a weekly basis, updated the safety bulletin board, ordered and replenished all safety supplies, issued Hot Work Permits, helped maintain barricades, contributed to snow removal and sanding down walkways for safe access, left the site to pick up supplies and perform other miscellaneous duties, as needed.
GRANITE CONSTRUCTION:
September, 2007-August, 2008: Healdsburg, CA.
Safety Coordinator: Duties included safety supervision of all employees, enforcing employees to perform inspections, performing inspections myself, responsible for arranging drug-tests, filling out daily reports, giving New Employee Orientations, assisting in morning toolbox safety meetings, ordering supplies and distributing among the employees.
March, 2007-September, 2007: Antioch, CA.
Lead On-Site Safety Supervisor: Responsible for supervision of Granite and 4 other subs' employees in the aspect of Safety, handled deliveries, attended all Managers Meetings and assisted in Safety Meetings, created and maintained a filing system, performed document control, worked with submittals/transmittals, was responsible for giving New Employee Orientation, also presented New Employee Orientation for contractor (when needed), which lasted approximately 3 hours, ensured all PPE was being used properly, ordered and stocked what was needed regarding safety, wrote up personnel violations, set up drug tests and transported employees to drug testing site, escorted people on to the job site, which required a badge for entry, had full control of safety operations and communication between all subs and contractors, had to keep in constant contact with contractor by having radio on at all times, responsible to help inspect and color-code all tools/equipment for the month, air monitored any trenches or excavations and filled out confined space permits, had the authority to shut down a job immediately, and employees could not start working until I was present on the site (5:30am-7am) and I could not leave until the last worker vacated the premises (5:30pm-8pm).
September 2006-March 2007: Ukiah, CA.
Safety Coordinator: Dealt with Workman's Compensation Claims, giving New Employee Orientation, communicating with police/highway departments, conducting safety meetings/training, inspections, documented inspections and incidents with pictures and reports, ordered and disbursed supplies among employees, arranged drug tests, submitted all workman’s compensation claims, police reports, etc., maintained the Safety Core Matrix, which is all safety meetings, inspections, and weekly tailgate meetings that employees had attended in the area, acted as the claims administrator and filed everything that had to do with safety/investigations/reports, as well as “new hire” employee documentation. This location required constant travel, due to numerous off-site locations.
May 2006-September 2006: Sacramento, CA.
Safety Coordinator: Performed job site inspections, focusing on hazard recognition, unsafe behaviors and identification and correction of any such behavior. Arranged for ordering of safety supplies, supplied safety gear (i.e. hardhat, gloves, respirator (after a fit-test), safety vest, safety glasses, etc.), to employees working on the job sites. Assisted in New Employee Orientation, and after training, performed this task on my own. Performed/helped assist safety manager/foremen with safety toolbox meetings. Implemented safety program to meet or exceed safety standards, to help ensure that safety goals were met. Assisted in investigations, documentation and maintaining records of all third party and Worker’s Compensation claims, to make sure that all sufficient documentation was provided. Assisted with agency inspections (i.e. OSHA, MSHA, etc) and walk-through of the job sites. Helped and assisted foremen/co-workers, with the development and/or review of a Job Hazard Analysis (created before the start of a job, and utilized until the end), for each significant phase of work, to ensure safe completion of the project.

Safety Tech: A copper/molybdenum surface mining company. Assisted with safety issues, MSDS books, property inspections and improving safety awareness. Assisted the Safety Manager with reports, forms and implementation of personnel actions for violators.
2003-2005: Butte, MT.
Chemist Assistant/Lab Intern: Responsible for prepping and assaying blast hole samples for molybdenum content, washing and putting away glassware, working around and with acids/bases (sulfuric, nitric, sulfurous, perchloric, ammonium chloride, etc), meeting deadlines, and maintaining accurate and consistent results.
HENSEL PHELPS CONSTRUCTION:
2003: Irvine, CA.
Safety Engineering Intern: Worked on projects in both Irvine and Los Angeles. Helped supervise all employees, and enforce safety rules and regulations. Helped field engineers with surveying and other duties, when needed.
GILBERT TEXAS CONSTRUCTION:
2001: Dallas/Fort Worth, TX.
Civil Engineering Intern: Worked in the Dallas/Fort Worth Airport, and performed tasks such as: inspecting, document control/office work (Excel spreadsheets, time-cards, profit/loss analysis), surveying, laboring and operating a man lift.
