TECHNICAL
EXPERIENCE
Digital
clock
§ Implemented a digital
clock with an alarm using a 9S12DP512 microcontroller, which I programmed using
C. The output was displayed in an LCD display that I to interface to the
micro-controller.
Digital Thermometer
§ Implemented a digital
thermometer usinga 9S12DP512 microcontroller, a thermistor as an input, which
changes its resistance depending on temperature, and an LCD display to display
the output.
Theremin
§
Implemented a Theremin, an electronic musical instrument controlled without
contact from the player, using two IR sensors, an analog filter, a 9S12DSP512
microcontroller, a DAC and ADC converter, and a current amplifying audio
amplifier. The circuitry was all embedded in a PCB which I designed.
The Music Suit
§ The Music Suit is a fusion of gesture recognition and music in the
pursuit of enhancing the performing arts by turning the user’s movement into
sound. We built a sensor suit to gather the movement data and transmit it to a
computer that determines what gesture is being performed and what sound to
play. The Music Suit divided into two subsystems: the Sensor Suit, which produced
data about the user's movements, and the Computer Terminal, where the data was
processed.
HSPICE
§ Designed a counter that went through a given sequence. The circuit
had two inputs, clock and reset signals, and two outputs, which followed the
required sequence. Once I finished the circuit, I optimized it as much as
possible by reducing both power and delay.
ALU
§ Using Cadence, I created an ALU composed of only 3-input NAND and NOR
gates that I created using n-type and p-type transistors. The ALU had four
inputs:two 16-bit inputs, one 5-bit control signal input, andone 1-bit carry-in
input signal. It also had three outputs: one 16-bit output, one 1-bit overflow
output, and one 1-bit carry-out output. The ALU had 4 main operations: logic,
set condition, arithmetic, and shift operations.
Synchronous Serial Port
(SSP)
§ In Verilog, I made a Synchronous Serial Port that connected a processor
to a peripheral device. The serial port could receive and send out 8-bit data
to both the processor and peripheral based on an input given by the processor
and an input clock.
SRAM
§ In Cadence, I created the schematic and layouts of an inverter and an 11
transistor SRAM. After that I performed the extraction of capacitive and
resistive parasitic elements and carried outtiming
characterization of the resulting circuit using HSPICE simulation.
