Army’s 25th Signal Battalion at Camp Eggers in Kabul, Afghanistan, Paul
Spears Sr. serves as an IAT Level III Information Assurance Analyst in the Camp
Eggers NOC. His responsibilities include conducting vulnerability
scans, assessments and reports using eEye Retina, GFI LANguard, Q-TIP and NSA’s
USBDETECT on the NIPR/SIPR/CX-i networks in the greater Kabul area in
accordance with U.S. Army Regulation 25-2. His duties include working Remedy
tickets, working NDCI Spillages, collaborating with SA’s in vulnerability
remediation while maintaining the HBSS and SCCM clients. His daily functions in
AD (Active Directory) include
creating, removing, and/or approving user accounts as well as regularly
maintaining/removing obsolete user accounts and computer objects. Mr. Spears is
responsible for disabling user accounts due to IA Violations and regularly reviews
coalition accounts for accurate configuration.

Serving as the Keesler AFB Vulnerability Assessment
Specialist, Paul Spears Sr. was responsible for base-wide network vulnerability
assessment with his findings reported to the local SMS, SCCM, WSUS and
Infrastructure Administrators and Base Lead CSA for remediation. He was the POC
for vulnerability assessment efforts at Keesler AFB, assisting the 81st
Communications Squadron with preparations for DISA’s ECV / CCRI inspection per
AETC’s Scan/Patch/Scan policy. He’s experienced with Valiant, eEye Retina, ISS
Pinger, DISA Gold Disk and the Vulnerability Management System (VMS) and performs systems administration of the Network
Vulnerability Assessment tools. He
completed an annual NSAT review performed by AETC the week of January 10th,
2011 for which he received a commendation for his efforts.

served as the Vulnerability Assessment Specialist at Keesler AFB performing vulnerability
detection on workstations, servers and infrastructure where he created custom
reports of his findings, worked event tickets and served as one of the primary
focal points in remediation efforts. While at Keesler AFB, Mr. Spears defined
new processes and procedures to enhance vulnerability assessment and

Paul Spears Sr. launched and led the first Internet
Service Provider in South Alabama, having hired, trained and managed over 20
employees. He managed day-to-day operations
of all departments with specific focus on technology. His IT responsibilities
included budgeting, systems maintenance, help desk oversight and implementing
procedures for architecture, disaster recovery, business continuity and
security. Mr. Spears negotiated a 50% shareholder partnership with the local
rural electric cooperative which enabled rapid growth of the business
eventually serving 10k households with over $3MM in annual revenue. He identified
optimal, cost-effective telecom solutions and negotiated contracts with pertinent
vendors. Mr. Spears oversaw the roll-out of the area’s first wireless broadband
solution serving over 2000 rural broadband customers.
