Professional Experience:
U.S. Space and Rocket Center: JUN 2008 – MAR 2011
As the Director of the Geospatial Training and Application Center (GTAC), I performed all duties related to management of a very dynamic technical laboratory with the mission of bridging the gap between the researcher/developers and end users in the area of geospatial technology research and product development. My primary role has been the daily operations of the Virtual Alabama Program, a Google Earth Enterprise based common operating platform for the state.
Various enterprise level GIS systems and Remote Sensing technologies were utilized in this endeavor.
The GTAC lab was at the forefront of cutting edge visualization technology (3D modeling, immersive photography, land-based LIDAR, etc) integrated with traditional GIS/Remote Sensing disciplines, with the mission to provide enhanced situational awareness for many different government agencies.
I also served as Project Manager for the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources - Coastal Remote Monitoring System. This is a cutting edge effort to provide situational awareness of Mobile Bay with multiple IP-based surveillance cameras supported by a wireless infrastructure and integrated with sensor feeds and Google.
Many of my duties were technical in nature including SUSE Linux server administration, Apache administration and Google Earth Enterprise administration. I was heavily involved in many different aspects of GIS and Remote Sensing especially as it relates to situational awareness within a “Common Operating Picture.”
Philips Healthcare: APR 2006 – JUN 2008
As a Field Service Engineer my primary duties include planning, installation, testing, preventive/corrective maintenance of very sophisticated medical equipment in the General X-Ray (GXR), Magnetic Resonance (MR), Xcelera (MEDIT, PACS) and Computed Tomography (CT) modalities. Interaction and problem solving with doctors, department directors, and other radiography personnel are part of my daily activities. I am also well versed in networking and DICOM. I primarily work in the OR and CV environments as well as the ER and main radiology areas.
Intergraph Services Company: APR 2003 – APR 2006
As a Systems Analyst in the Civil Production Department I was one of the original 2 members assigned to define department operations, production work flows, research and development. I also trained and supervised support personnel. Duties included tracking project status and chairing weekly meetings. I wrote technical work flows as well as departmental policy and procedures. I also served as liaison to customers across the state of Alabama. I also served as Technical Lead for the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency (NGA), Geospatial Information Feature Database (GIFD) Initialization project. My primary responsibility is to work with all levels of the data conversion effort, from management to individual cartographers. The purpose of my position is to assist in the conversion of legacy data into the NGA Oracle GIFD structure. I also support NGA hardcopy Nautical Chart production.
ServiceMaster, Inc. /Aramark: APR 1999 - FEB 2003
As a Biomedical Technician (BMET II) one of my primary duties was to perform preventive maintenance (PM) on diagnostic and therapeutic equipment at a frequency determined by risk assessment procedures. Carried out requested corrective maintenance on medical equipment and systems within acceptable time frames, ensuring adequate follow-up until all problems are resolved taking into account guidelines and standards stipulated by the NFPA, AAMI, JCAHO, and the hospital. This includes evaluation of problems and deficiencies encountered with medical equipment. Involved in initiating and participating in problem-solving and group/team decision-making projects. The work is high pressure at times and sensitive in nature. Interaction with professionals from varied disciplines is necessary for mission success.
Science Applications International Corporation, Inc.: AUG 1996 - MAR 1999
As an Emergency Management Specialist, utilized GIS and emergency management software to perform on quick response teams at Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Disaster Field Office (DFO) sites.
Collected data, produced situation assessments, developed predictions of disaster impacts on the environment, assisted with recovery planning, and trained DFO staff on how to use and apply GIS technologies and products. Also heavily involved with the National Digital Orthophoto Program (NDOP) in high resolution scanning, image manipulation, and quality control.
