                                                                PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

St.Jude Children’s Research Hospital                           (Memphis, TN)                                                     1999 - Present
 Software/ Database Developer

·      Designed and implemented numerous Web-based applications for interacting with the back-end RDBMS to store, retrieve, and report medical data using ASP.NET/ADO.NET/AJAX. The applications communicated with MS SQL Server through stored procedures. Also, triggers were used to further facilitate data processing.

Majority of applications were built using ASP.NET Web Forms. Microsoft AJAX was also used                                      to reduce screen flicker and to enhance overall user experience. ObjectDataSource component was                               frequently used for custom data manipulation scenarios (nested data-bound controls), and also to                                              decouple data access functionality from GUI.

More recent applications were built using ASP.NET MVC pattern to simplify overall application                               design. The main benefit was strong decoupling between GUI, business, and data layers. LINQ to                                   SQL was used in the repository-based data access layer, and jQuery library was used for client-                                          side scripting and AJAX calls for non-standard GUIs.

·      Designed and implemented Web-based applications for clinical drug administration for cancer treatment. The applications communicated with the third party pharmacokinetic modeling software written in Fortran and stored results in various RDBMSs.

The first application of that type was built using classic ASP and server-side VB6 COM                                             components. The newer applications were built using ASP.NET and libraries                                                                         written in C#.

·      Designed and implemented desktop applications to submit data from analytical systems to the DBMS using Classic Web Services and WCF Web Services. Applications communicate with Oracle DBMS through stored procedures.

In one application, client-server communication was done via IIS-hosted classic web service                                             with bidirectional functionality to report progress to client. Since classic web services                                                         don’t support bidirectional channels, bidirectional functionality was simulated by means of                                                 AutoReset event and asynchronous client calls.

In other application, client-server communication was done via WCF                                                                               service, and progress reporting was implemented using dual-channel endpoint.

·      Designed and implemented two multi-threaded ActiveX controls for displaying patients’ data in 3D using C++, ATL, and OpenGL graphic library. The controls were later used in MS PowerPoint during numerous presentations by the director of the hospital.

·      Ported old VB6 legacy code to the new .NET / C# platform
