Responsible for the financial oversight, management, and reporting of non-profit, health care organization with an annual budget of $13m comprised of homecare, hospice, and private duty divisions, and Community Hospice House serving patients and families in communities throughout southern New Hampshire and northern Massachusetts. Integral member of the senior leadership team responsible for the strategic planning and management of the organization and in partnership with the board of directors and the Community Hospice House Foundation. Supervisory responsibilities for 7 employees in areas of billing, medical records, facilities management within an agency of 250 employees.
Key accomplishments:
Central role in the construction of and facility management of the Community Hospice House,a ten bed inpatient Hospice Facility with a two million dollar operating budget opened in December 2000. Established new costing models, metrics and management tools to monitor its financial success;
Created the Community House Foundation, a 501c3 foundation worth over three million in assets, in partnership with auditor, lawyer and Attorney General. Developed the Foundation Investment policy, reviewed RFP and participated in the selection of the Investment Manager;
Led the successful implementation of the Allscripts Healthcare Electronic Clinical and Financial Record system, Over 70 Clinicians moved from paper record to complete electronic record within six months of implementation. Over 40 in house staff trained in new back-office software. Accounts Receivable below benchmark of 50 days within 12 months. No decrease in clinical productivity for the year;
Constructed new policies and procedures for all aspects of the Financial System. Created the backbone of the system to bill for Medicare, Medicaid and Third party services, pay employees, and determine programmatic costing. Upon completion of implementing system reduced administrative positions worth over $200,000 while gaining efficiencies;
Established successful Strategic Plan, Budget Forecasting, and Financial Strategies during three industry changing Medicare Payment initiatives; Cost Reimbursement, IPS, and PPS ;
Initiated and completed the process for HHHC to become enrolled as an Individual Health Care Provider; including completion of the CMS 885I applications, new NPI Medicare B physician office number and the successful billing and payment for outpatient physician services resulting in a new revenue line worth $100,000; and
Constructed and presented annual program budgets to United Way, Municipalities, and Grants worth over four hundred thousand per year.
