mine irregularly shaped coal seams automatically. Software controlled a
2-axis boom and calculated its current position based on various machine
sensors.

Design and development of automated control software to
keep coal mining equipment on a perfectly straight bearing. This was
accomplished through the use of PID algorithms and complex calculations to
synchronize the two crawler tracks of the mining vehicles.
§
Design and development of software to automatically drill
a hole into the roof of a mine for gas relief.
§
Creation of HMI software to allow a mining operator to
adjust settings and controls via a key panel and graphics screen.
