Professional
Summary:
Experience with successfully managing all
aspects of Physical layer development of a Prototype CDMA2000 1x Network Base
Station including design layout, development, implementation, integration,
testing and demonstration with cross-functional teams. The Prototype had
sufficient functionality and performance to allow a maximum of two standard
CDMA2000 1x phones to register with the Base Station and set-up, perform and
complete a mobile voice call between the two phones. Further to this
achievement, a successful pilot trial of the project was also exhibited.
Pilot trial consisted of having six simultaneous voice calls with good voice
quality and receiver enhancements like power control.

Project Details:
Project: CDMA2000
1x Base Station development.
Project Profile: SDR IP BTS - This
project is aimed at developing a Base Station using Software defined radio.
Software defined radios (SDRs) is used to describe radios that provide
software control of a variety of modulation techniques, wide-band or
narrow-band operation, communications security functions (such as hopping),
and waveform requirements of current and evolving standards over a broad
frequency range. The frequency bands covered may still be constrained at the
front-end requiring a switch in the antenna system. The platform used for
implementing SDR base band is Analog Devices, TigerSHARC TS-201S DSP's.
Team size:
8
Role:
Responsibilities in the team primarily consisted of:
·
Laying
out CDMA2000 1x Base Station Physical Layer Receiver software application
design.
·
Blueprinting
all message flow sequences between Base Transceiver Station (BTS) and Base
Station Controller (BSC).
·
Developing
Mobile Transmitter Simulator and Base Station Receiver application in MATLAB.
·
Developing
receiver software application on TigerSHARC DSP in C and TigerSHARC TS-201
assembly language.
·
Creating
a Visual DSP Kernel, a Real Time Operating System (RTOS) kernel framework
with all the necessary threads and interaction between them.
·
Creating
a similar design in OSEck, a Real Time Operating System (RTOS) with
all the necessary processes and signal flow between them.
·
Integrating
and testing the core receiver software application with this framework.
·
Creating
a data transfer mechanism between IF board (ISL5216 Quad Programmable Digital
Down Converter (QPDC)) and base-band board (Danube 6 Pac).
·
Integrate
this Receiver application with BSC and MSC through interaction with other
cross-functional teams.
·
Testing
the entire application by porting it on Bittware's Danube 6 Pac Board hosting
six TigerSHARC DSP's, integrated with Commercially Off-The Shelf (COTS)
Hardware RF Front end, to successfully demonstrate set-up and completion of
six simultaneous mobile voice calls through air interface.
·
Incorporating
other Base Station receiver enhancements in the roadmap to Production BTS.
