Voice Over Internet
Protocol
|
Duration
|
2 months (Jan 2006 to Feb
2005)
|
Project Description
|
This is the implementation
of a Voice Over Internet Protocol using the
SIP,RTP and Audio Codecs as the parts of its
Architecture.
SIP functions in
establishing the connection between the two useragents and providing necessary info to the RTP.
RTP functions key roles
like taking audio data, calling compression algorithms, encoding the
compressed data to the udp socket of the destination and does the reverse
operation on the other side.
Audio Codecs section
involves the basic audio record and play drivers,
Compression algorithms like
PCM-A law,PCM –U Law, GSM , Speex and the Internet LowBitRate Algorithm i.e
LPC Algorithms.
Each of them give rise to
different bandwidths. It is upto the RTP section to decide which Algorithm is
used.
|
Role
|
This
includes the core hardware where the voice is recorded, compressed as per the
available audio compression algorithms and encode the compressed data onto
the udp sockets.
On the other side of receiving end, it
receives the compressed data from the udp socet and decompress the encoded
data back into the original form of audio data.
It
generally requires a 16 bit audio sampled at 8khz frequency as input and the
output is encoded into 8bit / 7bit / 5bit / 4bit / 3 bit as per the algorithm.

Serial Digital Video Transmission through Fiber optic link using
Cypress Hotlink Chipset
|
Duration
|
2 months (Jan 2004 to Feb
2004)
|
Project Description
|
The
objective of the project is to provide a broadcast quality of digitized
picture transmitted over longer distances as high speed data link. It finds
application in security systems like CC TV monitoring where data from the
peripheral devices is transmitted to the receiver at a remote location, which
monitors security from this processed data. This is extended in to services
interconnecting workstations, servers, mass storage and other video
transmission equipments where a high data rate is required for faster access
and high reliability and efficiency.
