Maintained 2008 enterprise physical and virtual file and application servers. Created VMWare infrastructure composed of three ESXi 4.1 hosts, 2 Dell 6400i and 2 Dell EqualLogic SANs and Simpana replication/backup software. Retired physical servers, transitioning AD certificate services, printing and corporate file shares to virtual 2008 servers. Assessed and purged Active Directory database of legacy user and computer accounts, updating current accounts as necessary. Developed an automated electronic process for the creation and maintenance of enterprise user accounts and corporate contacts. Assumed full responsibility for over 255 node LAN portion of approximately 400 node WAN.  LAN comprised of 4 Appleshare and 1 NT servers with a mixture of NT 4.0, Win98 and Macintosh desktops.  Accomplishments included restructuring of classroom builds in labs; reconfiguration of NT server to Provide RAID; implementation of system policies for NT users through use of registry edits; configuration of NT server connectivity and validation across subnets for Windows 98 clients; troubleshooting and support of large variety of education software as well as standard business applications; installation and configuration of new equipment and software; installation and maintenance of server backup system; upgrade and configuration of router for NAT; wiring of additional network ports; troubleshooting and repair of malfunctioning equipment; installation and configuration of new ASIP server including institution of secure server authentication for all users; general user support and training.  Wrote batch file to automate creation of user accounts for NT system from tab delimited file extracted from student management database application.

Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon, NH                                                                                                1998 – 2000
User Support Specialist
Functioned as part of a seven member User Support team providing telephone support as well as office visits to troubleshoot desktop problems.  Served as the Excel specialist providing advanced assistance with this application as well as developing curriculum and providing instruction in a classroom setting.  Developed and taught class for Macintosh users moving to Windows NT platform.  Produced written classroom materials for both courses.  Took on responsibility for legacy Novell systems, keeping them operational through Y2K and integrating them into the NT environment. Wrote several batch files to automate processes in NT.  Developed CD imaging system for quick replacement of system software and applications on non-repairable desktops significantly reducing down time for affected employees from approximately a full day to about 2 hours.  Updated software builds on “non-current model” desktop machines to incorporate latest OS and application patches and security updates, maintained library of these builds and distributed images to team members.  Served as “go to” person for laptop problems including peripheral installation and dial-in access, as well as assuming responsibility for a pool of seven loaner laptops.  Helped develop integration of Palm devices with DHMC desktop and laptop machines via Outlook and Exchange Server folders.  Wrote detailed documentation for all areas of specialty.  Served as a member of the Computer Standards Committee, assisting in defining future directions for the DHMC IT infrastructure.
